 Open all year campsite in the heart of the Els Ports National Park. Campsite is just off the main road, pitches are far enough away from road that traffic noise was not noticeable.
Big pitches some with 6amp others with 10amp ehu. On our pitch we noticed on day two there was dog muck which we had to clear. There is only one water tap near the toilet blocks. Showers and loos were clean (only ladies open in winter so used as unisex) plenty of hot water.
Washing up, clothes washing are also had plenty of hot water - could have done with a clean and we saw a lady from the statics smoking in there whilst washing so it was a bit smelly. The owners are investing huge amount in the site, new pergodas going up, a zip line, new wooden cabins.
There was a restaurant which opened in the evening for pizzas and light meals. In the morning it was open for breakfasts and very popular with locals.
The village of Arnes is lovely, a medieval centre with a small supermarket, a wonderful bakery and a couple of cafes and a taps bar. Many more hill top medieval village to explore within half an hours drive.
The area itself is beautiful. Plenty of Via Verde where you can walk or cycles for miles between the villages. You can reach the 90 km Zafan / Terra Alta cycle paths are on a former railway line and approx 2 miles from the site- downhill towards Tortosa but there are vehicle services that will bring your bikes back up - wonderful cycling (beware many of the tunnels are long and unlit you need a headtorch).
We adored the area and will come back. The site was good, as said they are investing in the site but sometimes the basics on cleaning etc need a bit more care. Lovely owners who are very friendly and speak a very little English
