Having read the review left in June it seems that some improvements have been made but there is still a way to go. The site only opened in June and I think they’re learning as they go. They certainly have a lot of plans and I expect we’ll go back next year.
The site location is lovely. You can either pitch in the field or in the woodland which was great for shade during our hot weekend. There were quite a few people staying and it wasn’t quiet but no real issues - certainly things were fine to get to sleep after midnight (or earlier with earplugs!).
Due to the weather and there having been no rain for weeks, the risk of fire meant that no campfires or bbqs were allowed. Unfortunately we didn’t know this until we arrived and had brought a bbq with bbq food. We managed to fry some of it but a pre-warning email would have been good (apparently they’d been texting people but didn’t have our number).
The relaxed ethos of the site without loads of rules is great but I do think a decision needs to be made as to whether the site is kept fairly quiet to appreciate the wildlife (heard tawny owls in the evening!) or whether it’s an ‘anything goes’ site with large groups / parties. There was a very noisy stag do which wasn’t relaxing for anyone! They weren’t too bad when it got late but some of them were incredibly drunk which was a real detriment to the shared toilet facilities - which will keep me away until sorted out!
There is currently one temporary toilet block with 3 cubicles (you can see under all the doors and, if you’re as tall as my husband, you can also see over - so not very private at all). There was one shower cubicle but that was the same. Considering how many people there were this wasn’t enough. I have to say though they were incredibly clean given the state of some of the stag do campers who I saw completely missing the toilet and going on the floor - they hadn’t even made any effort to close the toilet door which is not what you want to walk into. It made me think twice about using the facilities at all which isn’t great. There are 3 basins with pump soap provided which was a plus. I think the loos were being cleaned quite frequently
There is one sink outside the toilet block for washing up but it has no taps yet. There were two very large Bins provided - one for general rubbipsh and one for mixed recycling which was great. The June reviewer mentioned that access to the toilet block was up a ramp in the crushed hardcore. That’s still the case on one side but they have made wooden steps on the other side into the woods - they just need to extend the decking a bit and do some more steps to the field. I’m not sure if this is on their list of things to do!
I’d also improve the area around the drinking water tap which for some reason had loads of orange buckets around it and very strangely a toilet (with seat/lid) sunk into the hardcore right in front of the tap. I had no idea what this was for but hope it’s not for chemical toilet disposal as it’s right outside the toilet block door, in front of the water tap and is actually quite easy to trip over, especially at night when there no light.
The generator is on all day and goes off at 10pm - so there’s no light or hot water outside of these times. It wasn’t an issue as long as you have a torch.

What a beautiful site, set in a fab location. Walkable pub and close to the market town of Romsey.
The site is set a long way back so the nearby A27 is barely noticeable.
Much of the site is dense natural woodland with open camping fields or woodland glades.
Adults only, pitch where you like and open fires. This site could be perfect alas it’s a long way short of the potential.
The toilet block (clearly a second hand events unit) has only 3 toilets for a site that will hold more than 100 people. The toilets are unisex and there is no privacy between the cubicals nor at the sinks. There was no shower at all when we arrived and they just about got it built by the Saturday night. A strip wash was out of the question (see above). And there wasn’t even hot water when we first got there. There are no washing up facilities.
On top of this the toilet block sits on a big levelled pile of broken bricks and concrete with a makeshift ramp. Needless to say the access was unsafe and unsightly. What was just as unsafe was the large numbers of dead branches that hadn’t been removed from the trees and could have fallen in a high wind and crushed somebody.
The potential peace and tranquillity was spoiled from 8am until 11pm by a large diesel generator that provided the power for the site.
And last but not least there were no waste facilities at all other than leaving it by the owners own domestic bins. There were c40 there for the weekend so you can imagine how much was piled up, with some just leaving bagged rubbish where they’d pitched.
All in all. What could have been wasn’t. They owners just weren’t ready for guests and we got a lot of very feeble excuses. It all became quite laughable in the end. I will keep my eye on this site as the location is great but there is huge amount of work (and frankly learning) to be done before this could be a great site.
