 A lovely campsite sitting on the beautiful Monte San Giorgio very close to the Italian border.
I loved this site. It was pretty empty when we stayed which probably helped it feel so tranquil. The surroundings are really calming with a river, lots of trees and very little noise from anything but the wildlife.
The site is well equipped with laundry facilities, a freezer for all to use, a pool, clean showers and toilets and a covered washing up area.
The staff are friendly and helpful. One of them speaks English but they speak Italian and German too.
The site has a restaurant that seems to be run by different people to the owners. The food there was good but pretty pricey. It is very popular with locals. This is the one downside of the site because you have to walk through the site to get to the restaurant. This means that there is a bit of noise as the restaurant customers leave and walk past the pitches. This wouldn't stop me from returning though.
The site is not far from the motorway making it very convenient if you are heading down to Italy. However, you really feel like you are in the countryside as it's so peaceful.
The site is child friendly however I would worry about small children roaming unsupervised as there is a large pond and a running river.
The site isn't cheap but being so close to the border you can shop and eat in Italy to make the experience cheaper.
