A very warm and friendly welcome from Claudia when we arrived. The pitches were large and well spaced.

The heated facilities block was kept clean, water for washing and showers etc very hot. With it not possible to take clothes into the individual showers the more prudish might consider that more could be done to preserve their modesty.

There’s a free washing machine, microwave and fridge freezer in the washing up area.

Free wifi is available throughout the site but the signal varies. However at the covered seating area near reception it flies.

There is no traffic noise but there is some from passing trains and planes over head not to be unexpected or for the convenience of staying so close to the city centre.

On check in there is a wealth of information about getting into and around Budapest and the key areas offered verbally and paper based. Nothing was too much trouble. The bus stop to catch the metro two stops 1. 5km away is 200m from the campsite. Public transport is free for the over 65’s and it was easy to get into and around Budapest.

The college near the bus stop serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We enjoyed a cooked breakfast there each morning before setting off to Budapest.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Budapest and our stay at the Arena Campsite.
