 The campsite is an elongated figure of 8 shape, with the reception at the top and the sanitaires at the waist.
The upper part is more open and the lower half in avenues of mature plane trees giving more shade.
Pitches are large, around 100 sq m, and generally flat. 16 amp ehu in pods of 4 abound using normal EU blue connection and water points are every where.
The sanitaires are recently refurbished thanks to an EU grant. Double glazing, heaters, large shower cubicles with plenty of shelves and hooks. Controllable water temperature. Hand basins with large mirrors and razor points, Dyson blade type hand driers. Everything bright and very clean ( Even approved by my wife!) Toilet paper is not provided.
There are recycling points around the site and two separate areas for communal barbecues, complete with picnic tables.
The free wifi is a good signal by really only in the upper half of the site, although we had a signal in the lower part near the sanitaires.
There is a dog exercising area in the camp, a ball games area, children’s play ground and a swimming pool.
Entry to the site is via a barrier which is controlled by a fob onto a post.
The warden speaks English and is continually happy.
There is a butcher and a gorgeous patisserie/baker in the village and a lovely delicatessan/greengrocer (Le Garde Manger) and, of course, a pharmacy. It is 5 to 10 mins by foot, depending upon your waddle, from the campsite. About 1 mile away is a commercial zone with large Intermarche, McDonalds etc.
Montbrison is Okish and there didn’t seem to be much in the surrounding areas, in the short time we were there.
As an overnight or couple of days, then this site is probably without parallel. Best of all it is criminally cheap.
