Campsite ideally located for exploring Salzburg (10 mins away by bus). Grassy field, a few trees and great views.

It was pretty muddy in places, but this is the mountains and therefore it rains. We were able to select our spot, even though the site was busy and we hadn't booked ahead.

As they were expecting a lot of visitors, units were encouraged to use the space economically.

The facilities were good and clean, and there's a washing up area and washing machine to use too. There is electric, but you might need a long cable.

Staff were friendly and helpful, spoke English and there's a cosy bar/restaurant, where we didn't eat but the food coming out looked great.

The clientele were mostly outdoorsy types, hiking or cycling, a lot of caravans and motor homes and a few young families.

Brilliant! If you do 'proper' touring across Europe you must stay here. Ideal for Austria, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia etc. We have used the same route every year to visit Italy. Yes France/Switzerland is quicker but we go through Belgium, stay at Rudesheim am Rhein then Salzburg, through the Dolomites into Udine, Italy. We love the route, it's part of our holiday, easy finding dog friendly sites and great scenery. (£100 more on french toll roads, Switzerland not as dog friendly) The campsite is basically a field, no marked pitches and electric hook ups with about 12 connections in each. Wires stretching over the field, crammed in vehicles when busy, not like UK sites at all. It might seem 'rough and ready' but it's great fun. Halfway up a mountain, couple of tight corners through the village and onto site, beautiful views, paragliders landing in the next field. Toilets get busy, about 3 urinals and six seating for gents, but are ok. Couple of sinks in main house for dishes and perhaps just one washing machine. Great bar/restaurant on site, the food is fab and prices good. Beers and schnapps very nice. The owners are the nicest people in Austria I hope they adopt me. Tractor will tow you out if it rains. I love this site. Hardcore touring and the best fun we have ever had. Salzburg is lovely, the Mirabell Gardens worth a visit, Hohenwerfen castle (where eagles dare) 20min drive away and the beautiful Austrian lakes a bit further. Highly recommend this site if only for a stop off on your way through. We both like it so marked it high but DONT expect a UK type site. Not a 'destination' visit (unless you like Salzburg) but great stop off site.
