Our second stay here. Visiting family in the village to help out as mother in law was ill.
It’s a small certified location for members only. Five hardstanding pitches and a toilet for the use of campers. All you need is there, electric hook up, water and grey/black water disposal.
The location itself is great with shop (co op) pub and cafe in the village, buses into E’boro including night buses. Retail park a couple of miles away.
Loads of cycle paths in the local area, and the wonderful Pentland Hills regional park.
All you need here to stop over, visit the great outdoors, world class culture and entertainment in Scotlands capital city.
Note the grass around the pitches can get a bit muddy when it’s wet, not a problem if you take care and have a doormat handy for your unit.

We stayed on this five van CL site, during the Corona Virus period, so the toilet and shower were locked, so I can't comment on them. The site itself is a nice little site, kept tidy and was quite busy whilst we were there for six nights and everyone remained socially distanced.
There are no washing up facilities or playground for children, so not really a site recommended for small children, even though there was a family there with children
A few yards up the lane is a larger caravan site, (we took a look, but there was hardly anyone on there), Rosslyn Chapel, the local village pub and coffee house.
We made an appointment to walk up to the chapel and took a look around as part of a small party (which costs £9 per person). The church had a ten year plan to replace the roof, but as the church was mentioned in Dan Brown's book they raised enough funds to replace the roof within five years, but the charge of £9 still remains in place.
We also called in at the local pub The Original Rosslyn Inn for a meal, which was really nice, but due to the virus, the pub called time at 9pm. If you do visit the pub, you will need a torch to return down the lane in the dark.
The site is only a couple of miles from Tesco in one direction and Asda in the other direction, so well situated for food shops. At the top of the lane you can get a bus direct to Edinburgh.
Good value for money. We will definitely visit again if we are in the local area.

This is a separate site to Slatebarns caravan site - but only a few yard away. It is a C&MC CL run by the former owner of the large campsite. It consists of 5 generous hardstanding pitches set within a large grass area at the back of the owners house.
The site is situated 10 miles from Edinburgh city centre, regular bus sevices all day from the end of the road into the city. There is a gigantic retail park with supermarkets, Ikea etc. Etc roughly 3 miles from the site. There is also a cycle way from the end of the lane righ into the city.
All the pitches have electric hook up, there is a motorhome water point and a further fresh water point near the single toilet. Also outside the toilet is a grey waste and chem, disposal. The single toilet is old but clean with toilet paper and soap.
The site is within 2 minutes walk of the 15th century Rosslyn Chapel - made famous in Dan Brown's Da Vicini Code book / film. Sadly they have stuck a great big visitor centre on the side of it, so nearly impossible to take a photograph unless you pay for the tour - along with coachloads of tourists. Likewise the cafe is out of bounds unless you pay the entry fee. The days we stayed it was really busy so we didn't visit inside.
In the villagethere is one pub, one cafe and a small shop. There are a couple of lovely walks aound the village on marked paths and a Country Park at the other side of the village.
A lovely site for visiting Edinburgh and the surrounding area. It is advanced booking only - owner was quite strict about this.
