We stayed here because we wanted a stopover between Vienna and Villach. We'd also read that the area was a bit like Tuscany.
The site is 30min drive South of Graz. Drive South down the A9 and exit at Leibnitz and follow the 74 to Gleinstatten. The site is along the road on the left immediately after the Lagerhaus/DIY store.
Reception is only open between 7. 30 and 9. 30am and 6. 30 to 7. 30pm. We arrived at 2pm and found a pitch which turned out to be ok with the manager. Sadly I do not speak German and he did not speak English but I managed to communicate through Google translate.
The site is in a nice location next to a small lake which looks like it could attract picnickers and swimmers in the summer. There is also a small bar and pizzeria next to the lake. It was very quiet. There is a good range of shops and restaurants in the town and a fairly well stocked Spar.
The site claims to have 40 pitches plus about 40 seasonal pitches. The only fresh water tap I could find was at the motor home service point where I also dumped my grey water. Pitches are on grass or a mix of gravel and grass.
The sanitary block is one of the most modern I have seen. It was fully renovated to a very high standard in 2018 and is very well maintained. There's even a coffee vending machine next to the washing machines.
Sadly we did not manage to explore the area due to appalling weather but we did travel to Graz and were glad we did. It was a lovely city with many historical buildings. Parking is very expensive. I wish I'd used the park and ride.
When checking out we ended up being charged full rate for three nights even though I presented my ACSI camping card upon arrival. I did not argue due to the language issue but it was a bit annoying. I was also charged for the use of wifi which was not explained upon arrival.
I am happy to recommend this site and would use again but would clarify the nightly rate before putting the legs down.
