Perfect for overnight stop.
We had the pitch set back, up and away from the road. Very peaceful.
Owners were lovely when we phoned to confirm pitch.
Facilities were fine for our needs.

I stayed here for 2 nights and even though it might not be the prettiest site it satisfied my needs for both nights. Very basic, but useable.
Toilets/showers not open due to Covid but had EHU & water on hardstanding pitch which maybe wasn't the most level but easy fix with blocks.
Chemical waste & greywater all close to each pitch.
Right on junction to Glenbrittle and very, very busy during day with lots of traffic noise but nights were not so bad.
5 pitches with another couple for overspill. Excellent views from site and a few walks roundabout. Did have a wander into Carbost village and visited pub.
Very nice, right on lochside and close to Talisker Distillery.
There is a cafe further down road in opposite direction but didn't use but did look nice.
I didn't visit distillery but I would use this site again if I was going to but unless you're a walker then I probably would have maybe a couple of nights tops.

This is a very basic clean hard gravel site on the main road, but certainly not a busy road at night. Suitable for 5 motor homes and a caravan. It has the most beautiful view looking over the loch. Name on pitch when arrived, vacant notice on 3 others, but soon filled up both nights.
Payment of £20 per night put into the honesty box, never met the owner. Toilet/shower closed due to covid restrictions. Basic chemical emptying facilities, FANTASTIC FREE WIFI. Great connection.
Walking distance to Talisker Distillery in Carbost, small village with a great place to eat/drink, but an up hill walk on route back! Fairy pools 4 miles, but not advisable to walk. 3 walks available when your there. Cafe 10 minutes walk towards Sligachan.
Would certainly stay again

Cathie is super efficient and has everything organised for your arrival. The site is quite close to the road.
We were out during the day so did not notice how busy the road was.
It was definitely quiet at night.
Payment of fees is made electronically or via the honesty box on site.
It is an ideal location for exploring the island.
We would definitely use Merkadale again.

Just outside Carbost on the turning down to Glenbrittle. The site is gravel hardstanding, each of the 5 pitches has ehu and water. There is a grey water disposal point and chem disposal.
The two toilets and one shower are housed in an old portacabin
Which has been clad in wood. They were cleaned daily but could do with a makeover. Shower was free, water hot and ok presure.
When booking the owner asks not to make phone calls on a Sunday, she prefers email bookings. A gent came around to collect the money but their is also an honesty box if you don't see him. The owner lives in the village not at the site.
Carbost has a very small shop for basics, a lovely pub serving food with music at weekends and of course the distillery. Taking the road down to Glenbrittle you are 4 miles from Fairy Pools, with an enormus car-park this place was heaving with people, further down to the coast you come to the beach with its own campsite and many footpaths for the Cuillins.
At £16 for 2 adults with electric and shower its fairly priced for the facilities and location.
