Excellent campsite, lovely relaxed atmosphere and clean facilities.
Campsite manager was very helpful.
All pitches were spread out so you didn’t feel squashed in.
Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

What a friendly site manager could not have been more helpful. Good value for a fairly basic site for tents and small campervans only. Showers were fine and washing up facilities.
The grass is well mown and the cuttings were removed so no grass in the van! It was manicured with each designated pitch edged by slightly longer grass and wild flowers and some small trees.
It was very quiet and secluded.

This is a no frills campsite;mainly tents. There is no reception. On arrival, having selected your pitch, you text the owners and they come to collect payment from you.
For women there are two showers plus a unisex one. These are contained in pods, with a basin and toilet. The unisex one is great, as there is a bench and hooks to spread your gear out. Plenty of hot water. While we were there they were cleaned every day. Two outside sinks for washing up, again with plenty of hot water. Also two portaloos. I can’t speak for the men’s facilities.
The field is level, with large pitches separated by patches of wild flowers. One side is by the road, but there was scarcely any traffic while we were there. What was a real pain, however, was that on two out of the three nights that we stayed at the site a helicopter from the nearby army base kept flying around in the vicinity of the site, even after 11 pm.
The other negative - but this is a question of luck - was that every evening that we camped at the site there was quite a strong wind. The pitches are exposed, so there’s not much that can be done about this. This made sitting around our pitch quite chilly. On the plus side, it looked as though all pitches had a little fire pitch. Also you get the sun pretty much all day long, wherever you are positioned.
The area looks good for cycling, on very quiet lanes. If you bring an OS map you can make up a walk from the site if you don’t feel like driving out every day. (There are no leaflets about local attractions). Our home-made walk took in the Hillbury Iron Age fort.
The site had a nice, friendly vibe. I’d say that it’s most suited to young families with small kids.
