August 2019. This is the second time we have stayed at this camping Capricorne in 2yrs. The first time in 2017, we stumbled across it and stayed for 10 nights, this time we headed to Frejus and didn’t like anything we saw (more the prices) so drove back here and spent another wonderful 10 nights there.
This campsite is run by a lovely lady called Nathalie. Nathalie does speak English and will do anything to help. The prices are much lower and more realistic than other sites anywhere within that area. The site is mostly frequented by returning French guests and on our holiday in August last year, we really were treated well (we were the only English there). The other campers made us feel really welcome and the campsite is lovely and clean and safe.
Pitches are very spacious, there is a choice of partial cover (by trees) or full sun. There are 2 shower/toilet blocks which are always very clean. There is a lovely swimming pool which due to the sun, was always empty from approx 1pm to 2. 30pm and each day we had it all to ourselves!
There is a restaurant on site which is also a bar, they offer takeaway but we did notice their prices were higher than our previous visit and portion sizes lower. We used to purchase frites and make the rest of our dinner. There is entertainment throughout the summer – spoken only in French but it was nice to mingle with other campers.
The site itself is based on a main road, walking to the nearest beach is not really advised as there is no footpath. The beach is approx 15 minutes walk, about 4 minutes by car. Within a few minutes away on a Sunday morning, there is a carboot (know in France as a Braderie). Hyeres is a fabulous little town that boasts a great market and amazing views from Chateau d’Hyeres. Within 30 minutes you can drive to Toulon and slightly further you have St Tropez, Marseille and Frejus and Cannes.
Please note, this campsite is under the flightpath for Hyeres airport, however as it is only regional, flights are minimal and mainly small lear jets for celebs coming into St Tropez. No night flying or large planes so this is not a problem when camping.
