I've not been camping for 40 odd years, the last time with my parents when I was 11 but we struck GOLD on our first camping adventure, we were warmly greeted as we arrived at the site, we'd pre-booked a pitch and there was plenty of room for all on the field and it wasn't overcrowded and there was lots of space between campers, you were basically only limited by how long your extension lead was from the hook ups which are arranged around the centre of the field and not around the edges.
Other campers were friendly and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, toilets and showers are excellent and the washing up area is also very good. Good bar area and nice seating outside and friendly staff, there's a freezer outside with Icecreams and Lollies and an honesty box.
Strensall is nearby with a Tesco's express and a few pubs and Yorks not that far away with Monks Cross etc for any extra bits you might need.
A fantastic experience all round at Flaxton Meadows.

What a really lovely caravan site! We enjoyed 7 nights at this site in June. We had a problem with our car the day we were due to arrive and so didn’t arrive until 9. 30 pm. The wardens were very welcoming even though it was so late. The bar was still open so we were able to enjoy a welcome drink.
The site is lovely and quiet and it was lovely to hear the birds singing. The hard standing pitches are large, with water and electric (no additional cost) on each pitch. The only thing I didn’t like was that the grey waste was to be let out directly onto the pitch. Although it drained away very well I would have preferred to have an actual drain.
The toilet block is beautiful and everything is kept beautifully clean and tidy. The site is secure, well hidden from the road and number plate recognition on the barrier.
Lots to do in the area. We travelled on the North Yorkshire Moors railway a couple of times and visited York. There are a couple of National trust properties in the area too.

Unfortunately could only stay 1 night.
This is a cracker of a site. Beautifully kept by Martin and Elaine who were super helpful.
Toilet block was the best I have seen in over 40 years of touring.
Small bar on site and watched the GP with a nice pint.
Local services not far away and takeaway food can be delivered to the site and consumed in the bar if you want.
Definitely will return.

Took advantage of the current special offer, 3 nights Monday to Thursday £45
Excellent value, great site lovely large gravel pitches with ehu & water on the pitch
Lovely facilities block which is kept very clean
The little bar open in the evening is a lovely place to visit and chat to fellow customers and the staff who were all very friendly and helpful
Will be returning later in the year
Only negative is not very good for public transport and being in a motorhome we like to leave it on site, not a major problem just gave us a really relaxing three days on site

What an amazing find! A beautifully clean and well kept caravan and campsite.
We booked a hard standing with electric pitch for our motorhome and it was perfect - lots of room with water and electric on the pitch.
The staff are really friendly and cannot do enough for you. The location is perfect, you're surrounded by nature.
We loved seeing the peacock!
The bar is lovely and welcoming and the board games built into the table are a really nice touch!
We will 100% return here I'm already looking for the summer holidays😁
