Nice friendly campsite. It is a working farm so expect some animal noises, especially when the pigs are being fed.
Their own bacon, sausages & eggs can be purchased on site.
There is a flushing toilet & shower but only one so may have to wait. A second would be a good addition, even if a composting toilet.
Would stay here again.

Cheap and cheerful- Rough and Ready!
What more do you expect for a cracking price of £15 a night?
This is a working farm and the camping subsidises the farm livelihood- and that’s great!
The people who run the farm are lovely- helpful, friendly and hospitable.
There is a kind and helpful gentleman who stays on the camp site and who is really capable of sorting out any problems you may encounter- from tents that won’t go up to broken toilet flushes! It’s great to have someone present on site who can help - adds to security and peace of mind as well.
The ground is rough so if you have a tent bring camping mattresses or camping bed- if you are blessed to own a caravan or camper van then it won’t affect you.
The bins by the toilet and shower seem to be emptied regularly and there is fresh drinking water next to the camping field which is helpful- not too far to carry water containers.
The toilet and shower (singular and in the same room) are difficult to keep clean due to the amount of people traffic using them. The shower worked and the toilet flush broke quite a few times but the guy who stays on the site fixed it promptly.
You can also see through the the toilet and shower room door when the light is on- so you can easily see if the toilet is occupied! 😅
Please be polite and discreet and stand back from the door if you are queuing.
There is only ONE toilet so bring your own! If you are waiting to use the loo and several people are queued in front of you -with the shower occupied -then you are in for a very long wait!
I got up at 06. 00 and didn’t have an issue with queuing- I avoided it.
More suitable for camper vans and caravans rather than tents I think (due to limited facilities) but nevertheless a cheerful place to stay that won’t break the bank.
The washing up sink has cold water only so you need to boil a kettle and bring hot water with you to the sink if you are in a tent.
If you want a posh, well ordered, sanitised camp site with rows of showers and toilets then this is not it- BUT if you want cheap and cheerful -friendly -peace and quiet- with helpful lovely hosts who have two lovely doggies and enjoy sharing your camp site with geese chickens pigs and ducklings then go ahead and book!
I enjoyed it -the animals are great!
Personally the economical price was very welcome and enabled me to stay for nine nights very reasonably in order to volunteer at a local Christian event; I felt really welcome at this site.
Thank you to all at Solitaire farm for a great stay and for keeping your prices so low.
Keep going all at solitaire farm - I appreciate this camp site!

I’ve stayed here many times as it’s peaceful and relaxing. My kids love it here as they can run about and let some steam off. Plenty of space for field games.
The boys have taken it upon themselves to “run” the site, showing the new guests around and explaining where everything is!
Beautiful views and beautiful sunsets make this stay even better! £15 a night is a bargain!
The farm sells their own bacon, sausages and eggs which are the best I’ve ever had! That bacon… ah man!

I enquired online using the form on here and promptly received a phone call, which I missed, and then an email, confirming they had space, the price would be £15 and the code for the gate.
We set off and found the site quite easily, don't turn in to the farmhouse, there is a locked 5 bar gate just a very short distance along the road, and this is the site.
It is an open field, which was very sandy, but this is great as it means it doesn't get waterlogged and made for a good surface. It was a little rutted, but nothing too bad.
The site is located next to a road, however it is not that busy and really did not disturb us. Looking the other way you have views rolling for miles and this is very calming. There are some sheep kept in the same field, but they are fenced off and did not cause a disturbance.
This is a working farm and they have pigs and plenty of other animals, but again they were not intrusive, just normal relaxing farm sounds.
The owner was very pleasant when he came over to introduce himself and part us of some cash. He explained where the facilities were and where the village was and the pub.
The site has one large room which houses a sink, toilet and shower. This was pristine and a pleasure to use, however the water pressure is quite low so it took a while to shower!
There is a washing up area, chem disposal, fresh water and recycling facilities and I did spot an outdoor plug, so presumably you could charge your phone, etc, if needed.
We wandered to Gamlingay to head to the pub for food and this was not that far, 15 minutes walk, and the owner allowed us to cross his field to save a much longer journey. Some of the walk is along the main road into Gamlingay, but this was not busy and not an issue and had plenty of path to walk on and wait for cars to pass.
We got to The Cock Inn who advertised they were doing food only to be told that they were not, so we enjoyed a few pints, some crisps and then purchased some food to cook at the camper from teh Co op shop that was opposite the pub. I would phone the pub first if you are planning on eating there.
There are other pubs that are walkable, and we were just unlucky that we chose the one that was not serving food! There is an Indian restaurant in Gamlingay that the owner and pub landlady raved about, but we did not try it, but did look nice through the window.
Plenty to see and do in the area, but not a lot of walks as all footpaths begin with a walk down the road, this did not bother me, but may do for some.
They allow campfires, but we did not have one and the site is dog friendly. Children are welcome, and whilst there is nothing specific for them to do on site, there is space to run around, kick a ball and enjoy watching all the farm animals
I would 100% return to this site, a great relaxed evening with great company surrounded by lovely countryside views and farm animals.
