On arrival the site looked quite full, good size pitch fully serviced available. Good location and great views, friendly owner.
The site is a 5 van site and 10 tents.
On site was 6 caravans and 12 tents 1 late motorhome arrival which had the cheek to set up on an already allocated caravan pitch.
The facilities were basic with 1 toilet and shower which was not cleaned daily and inadequate for the amount of tents on site. No toilet roll and shower stopped working. Washing up area ok but again hot water heater not working. Rubbish not emptied bins overflowing.
This could be a great site. Better facilities are needed.
The site when we arrived was peaceful and we were quite taken aback by how undersold it was (the pictures don’t do it justice)! Stunning views! There is a bit of a slope on the site. More noticed in a tent.
One shower on site and there is one toilet open. However, there is an extra block of toilets they use for events that when the site gets busy they open.
Being bank holiday it did get busy and to be honest one shower was not enough for the amount of units that turned up. I think 14 or 15 units altogether. Not sure what their full capacity is. Quite a queue at times for a shower. The shower was hot all the time though. The washing up sink not so hot.
On each pitch electric hook ups are available I think they come as standard. Also a handy tap on each electric point. Great for not having to walk far for water.
The location was fantastic. Matlock and Bakewell not far at all. Sainsbury’s and the town centre was less than a mile. I wouldn’t drive it though as the hill to the camp site is not for the faint hearted.
This is a new site and I think they’re still learning the rules of the camping and caravan club. We were made to move our event shelter to cook away from the caravan. Where as a lot of people were cooking inside their tents.
Also standard moan of loud music from tents being played well past 11pm. Not great when you want to get the kids to bed. No park or really anywhere for the kids to play ball games without frowns from campers. Normally I would expect it would be ok but with the bank holiday it’s busier than we would have liked here.
This site could be amazing. One extra shower would be nice.
