 An ok site, easy to find off the A515, down a track on the right (if coming from the south), opposite the farm. There are views over the fields, but not the most inspiring. The cows are nosy and interesting to watch.
It's near one of the former railway tracks, particularly good for cycling, not so good for walking we thought. Hartington signal box is a short drive away, a couple of miles walk.
The farmer welcomed us, but queried as to whether we had booked. Cost of £15 per night is more than advertised, but ok. Recycling is inadequate; we mentioned this and more was provided, but still not enough.
You are surrounded by the White Peak, so plenty of places to visit. Try the Magpie Mine.
We would not go again, done all this area at various times.
The nearest shops are at Hartington, a very scenic village, but like something out of the 1950s, 1 shop for newspapers, another for alcohol. There is a garage about 2 miles south at the roundabout which sells papers and booze in the same place.
