We found this campsite when our original choice of site was full, and we're so glad we did.
The site is on the D38 road through Notre Dame de Monts which has several campsites, restaurants etc along it's length. However compared to other holiday places the whole area was delightfully low key and quiet.
It's about 1km walk or bike ride into the village of Notre Dame de Monts where there are more restaurants, cafes and shops including a couple of boulangeries and a butcher. It's about another kilometre further to a beautiful long sandy beach with a beach restaurant/cafe and toilets.
Reception for the campsite is off the main road and there are parking spaces either side of the entrance barrier that you can use while you book in. The Reception was excellent, quick and very helpful. English is spoken. We were given a large brioche loaf as a 'welcome present' which was a nice gesture. In season bread is available from Reception, otherwise it's a short hop to the village for it.
The site is mainly cabins, both privately owned and for rent, but there are a small number of pitches available as well. Our pitch was one of 5 in a group at the far end of the site which were very quiet and peaceful.
The pitches were large and surrounded by trees/bushes. The camping pitches have their own toilet and shower block with a key so they were never busy. There were 2 loos with paper and seats, 2 washbasins with baby change facilities and two showers (one accessible).
There are also washing up and laundry facilities in the same block, open to all residents, and a chemical toilet emptying point outside. All of the facilities were spotless and there was always plenty of hot water.
There's a very pleasant heated swimming pool near the entrance with a sliding roof so that it can be enclosed on cooler days and a small playground for children nearby.
In the main season there are clubs for children and low key activities such as drinks evenings and film shows for the whole family.
The on site restaurant (open to the public) is next to reception. Sadly it was closed while we were there due to Covid staffing difficulties but we were told by other campers that it's excellent when it is open.
For fisherman there is a gate that leads to a canal/river directly behind the site. Canoes can also be launched here for exploring the wetland behind the site.
This was one of the most peaceful campsites we have ever been on and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We'll no doubt find our way back there in the near future.
