Basic campsite with very basic facilities.
A wonderful location though, would visit again just for that.
Its situated on a working farm so there is lots of machinery about so
You would have to watch the kids.

This is a Camping and Caravan Club CS site with loads of space and also some glamping units and even if full it wouldn't feel crowded. There is plenty of space for children to play but be aware of an unfenced pond.
There are wonderful views across Abberton Reservoir and the sunset is spectacular. Each caravan pitch has water and electric, the elsan is pretty much central to the pitches and grey waste just goes in the hedge.
There is also a toilet and shower, not the best but perfectly usable. Booking and check in were very straightforward and Vicki came across to check that all was ok and again just before we left, she has some wonderful plans for the future of the site which will keep evolving as time goes by.
We visited Abberton Reservoir where we had a lovely walk and enjoyed a coffee in their cafe and also Mersea Island where we walked through the county park at East Mersea to the sea, this is a fantastic place for walking and children to play.
I must give a mention to the butchers in West Mersea who sells the best sausages I have ever tasted and the farm shop on the right just before you go onto the island for their lovely fresh produce and the local community shop at Langhoe run by the community for the community where they seem to sell just about everything.
I feel that I have to mark the site down a little because of the junk as you enter the site which is visible from the pitches but don't let this stop you from going, it nearly stopped us and we would have missed a gem.
There is also a nearby pub and tearoom which we didn't go to.
We will definitely be back.
