This is my second visit to the Gigha campsite - I love it, and I love the island of Gigha too.
The campsite now has a shed where you can charge kit, there's a kettle, microwave and fridges too, which is great.
The campsite is about 50 yards from the ferry, the seafood cart, bicycle hire and a gorgeous beach perfect for swimming. Pitches are generous, mostly very private.
One night with clear skies, I was lucky enough to see the most incredible array of stars - with little light pollution, Gigha is fantastic for star gazing.
Campsite facilities are first class and the staff are excellent.
This campsite is get-able to by public transport - I travelled by bus fron Glasgow £45 return, then walk down from Tayinloan to the ferry, and then the campsite is right at the terminal.
3 nights for £45 for solo tent.

Brilliant site. Gigha (pronounced Geea) is a fantastic little island. The drive from Glasgow is a bit dull, took us 4 hours but then hop on the tiny ferry for the 25 minute trip to the island and then drive for another 15 seconds to the campsite.
Anna welcomed us, gave us a map and told us to select our own site. We chose a sheltered site where nobody could overlook us.
There is a communal fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave in a hut which saves a lot of hassle of firing up stoves to make a cup of tea. Locally there is a shop with a chippy attached.
Opposite the site is a fresh fish stall selling crabs and lobsters.
So very ideal for children, no traffic except when the ferry arrives, the beach with its white sand and the water is very shallow is perfect and safe for small children.
We took bikes and cycled to the north and to the south. We walked to Achamore gardens which were in full bloom and then back to the site over the hills and various standing stones to the pop up pub.
On the last night we ate outside at the Boathouse restaurant (5*) overlooking the white sands and crystal clear water and the yachts moored in the bay watching the sunset.
It could have been the Caribbean except it was only costing us £21 per night Including the dog. Even the midges more or less left us alone.

Located beside the ferry landing and just a few metres from the sea, overlooking the Kintyre peninsula, the site has modern facilities to a high standard.
Pitches for motorhomes and caravans are level gravel, while there are tent pitches on grass spread around the adjacent area, dotted in between the bracken and outcrops of rock etc, providing a naturalistic feel.
The island is small but very beautiful, with plenty of places to walk to and explore.
There is a cafe open all year, and a pub, restaurant and takeaway open during the season.
The pub opens weekends only outside the season.

Great new campsite on Gigha, excellent value for money with lovely facilities. Super helpful lady runs the site.
Very near the ferry terminal, so near at hand if you have come by bus and on foot. Rural feeling site, well spaced out.
A lot of beautiful beaches on the island and super clear water - you can get round the island on foot pretty easily as it's fairly small.
I was lucky enough to get super weather, but it was pretty cold at night - campsite manager leant me a big warm fleece which I really appreciated.
Will certainly camp here again.
You can get bus down from Glasgow, walk to ferry terminal from Tayinloan and site close to terminal, so you don't need to have a car to visit.

Very friendly welcoming staff. Showers etc are brand new (built 2022) and very good.
For tents they have done a creative job of placing pitches between natural vegetation so it kind of feels like you are camping wild but on carefully mown grass.
The local restaurant is just 10 minutes stroll away as is the shop.

The Isle of Gigha is a very special place and discovering it has been made possible by the opening of this brand new site. The warden, Anna, is also very special. Extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly, such an asset to this community.
Only 3 motorhome pitches at the moment but more planned for next year. Excellent new facilities kept spotlessly clean.
We are so glad we decide to stay 4 nights. There are so many beautiful places to explore on foot or by bike. Strongly recommend the Walkhighlands website.
It's been a privilege to be a part of this community. Thank you Anna. We will treasure very fond memories.

This is a brand new site, opening on 12th August, just 3 days before I arrived. It's a wonderful site for tents, with pitches cut out in the bracken, so that each spot has a good degree of privacy. There are also a few motorhome pitches, which were fully booked when I was there. Note, the island is not well suited to large motorhomes.
Anna, who runs the site, is a camper herself, and you can tell. The facilities block has everything you could want. Clean, separate showers, outside but covered washing up area, along with covered picnic benches for bad weather days. They can also freeze cool blocks for you, and will charge your mobile phones in the office.
The island is lovely, with more to do in a small area than you might imagine. I spent 3 nights there, walking and cycling (bikes are for hire just across the road) the network of paths on the island, and visiting the numerous beaches.
And the site is just 100m or so up from the the ferry landing. The (only) island shop is up in the village, a short walk away, and there's a Michelin recommended restaurant - The Boathouse - just 300m along the road, If your budget stretches that far!
My only slight gripe is that as a solo traveller, I pay the same amount as a family of 4, for any given pitch. That said, the prices are fairly average, and for the setting, well worth the money.
