This site is well maintained and has all the facilities you need including a recently partly refurbished clubhouse. They don't allow tents on site as in the past this has been a problem for the other campers with noisy youngsters getting out of hand so it is very peaceful. There are about a hundred static caravans and a further hundred residential homes on the site with several pitches for touring caravans. There is an outdoor swimming pool but it was too cold to use when I was there in very early spring. There is a hairdressing salon on site and a very comfortable cafe with a good food and affordable menu. All in all well worth a visit

June 2004 The staff were pleasant and the site is 10 minutes drive from Clacton pier. £12 per night for car and medium sized tent.
Last minute telephone booking is not offered so it's first come first served if you haven't booked by post.
The camp site has a club house which was packed in the evening so don't expect this site to be quiet until gone midnight - it was like East Enders with the volume turned up between 11pm until gone midnight.
Essential packing - toilet roll and ear plugs.

July 2003 Initially we thought we'd found a real gem but on the first night the noise was intolerable - families shouting & swearing until the early hours and teenagers on the playground until late. Washing facilities were acceptable but not great. The owners of the site were really nice and the shop & takeaway were very handy. The club left a bit to be desired! The best bit was the residential area - gorgeous. We thought we'd use it regularly as a quick after work getaway but we'll keep looking for somewhere a bit more refined!

June 2003 When we arrived at Clacton we were not sure whereabouts this campsite was but as it was signposted, it was quite easy! On arrival the staff were very friendly, but we were a bit disappointed that we could not choose where to pitch our tent, they told us where to pitch. The site itself was good, but we read that it was for families only, but we had a young couple next to us (which I admit were not the only young couples there) who did insist on playing their music, even to the extent that they took the speakers out of the car and placed them in the tent, then obviously because the battery from the car was being used, every 20 minutes or so he would rev his engine! The toilets could have been cleaner as there were two which were disgusting, but one was seen to, but the other one was not. As we were only there for a weekend, it was tolerable.

May 2002 I really enjoyed my stay at Sacketts Grove. The location is ideal, the tenting green is nice and the shower facilities are excellant. The people are friendly and all too keen to help. My favourite part is, with out a doubt, the club house. It was welcoming with a good set of songs played by the DJ. We were very happy to see a dart board and were even more content to relax with a few drinks within a warm surrounding. We will be staying there again!

golden jubilee weekend we found this campsite by accident, which is quite near to clacton town centre and the beach. the park it self has a clubhouse, cafe, park, gamesroom, shower and toilets and washing up facilities. the park itself was very clean and the owners were very welcoming and polite. very reasonable rates too.
