We arranged to stop here as it was sited on the edge of the Weerribben-Wieder National Park and was listed in the ACSI guide.
The site is split in two with the chalets side being at the rear and out of sight of the camping area.
The camping section consists of 5 areas holding between 6 and 10 units, all on grass pitches, the vast majority of them being hedged between pitches.
There is 1 area near the sanitary block that is in the round and open. Cars are left in the communal car park but the site itself is not too big to be able to comfortably reach them.
The owner insists on bringing your caravan onto the pitch and taking it off but you can unload your car by the caravan. We honestly had no qualms about this.
Electric is 6 amps and the bollard is for 2 units with water also being for two. If you use service pitches often then make sure you have a splitter so that you can effectively be on a service pitch. Drainage is also on the pitch at the back.
Pitches are large and in some areas slightly sloping. There are several seasonal caravans on site but they all appear to be modern units and the people very friendly.
The sanitary block is unisex with enough showers and cubicles. They are free to use but you have to press a button for 4 minutes of hot water. Toilets in a separate area of the block with the chemical toilet nearby.
Dishwashing is at the entrance, inside, of the shower area. Hot water for this is bought at €0. 20 (to stop people pinching all of the hot water!) There is also a washing machine, a dryer and a spinner.
The pleasant owners speak a little English and are helpful. The area is agricultural so except associated smells and noise. Not a great deal to do for children though and there is no dog walk on site.
There is a Co-Op (small) supermarket in Sint Jansklooster. Enough for your day to day needs. The area is fantastic for just cycling on well marked and mostly off the main road paths through lovely countryside with excellent nature watching opportunities.
We enjoyed finding this site and making the most of what the area had to offer over our 6 nights stay. Well worth exploring.
