Another great site from the Greener Camping Club.
In brief - recently established, small and perfectly located a 3 minute walk from the beach and overlooking open fields.
Lovely owners who can't do enough to help make your stay just right - Nick even helped me with the tent (first time pitching!)
A 10 pitch site which is small but you get a great sense of space from the huge, flat pitches and it means everyone is a safe distance from neighbouring tents. Lots of water taps and fire extinguishers dotted around.
Two showers and two loos in an outbuilding are super clean and are constantly checked and cleaned throughout the day. Showers work well once you figure out the settings and provide constant water, none of that intermittent push button rubbish.
Washing up is in a kitchenette in a shed - lovely big sink and draining boards with plenty of hot water. There's a big fridge freezer so you can chill your wine as well freeze your ice blocks. Plus the really thoughtful addition of a kettle, microwave and a few plug points with USB connections. There are no electric hookups so this was a really helpful facility.
At night the site was deliciously peaceful; with a 9pm vehicle noise curfew and surrounded by like-minded and considerate campers.
Only downside was that the prolonged dry weather meant the ground was hard so I'd recommend taking your rock pegs - no ones fault, just the way it is with current climate conditions!
The owners have clearly done their homework and were eager to hear people's ideas for any possible improvements - I'd say just carry on as you are. I think one of the real bonuses of these new pop-up style sites is that they tend to be run by people who genuinely care about the campers experience and not just making a few quid. I really hope this works out for this lovely couple as I want to come back again and again.
A word of warning - the site next door appears to share the same address (and it also refers to another South Beach campsite on its web site) - it is not the same in any shape or form and it is owned by different people.
Heacham beach is largely sandy and stretches to Snettisham one way and Hunstanton the other - absolutely miles of fabulous coastline to walk and then watch incredible sunsets. There are also numerous walks in the area which the site owners can tell you about. Heacham village has a few pubs, fish n chip shops a Lidl, Tesco Express as well as village shops. Hunstanton is a few minutes drive away and Kings Lynn about 25 minutes.
No dogs by the way but it seems very child friendly with some ride on toys provided and all feels perfectly safe for them.
Loved it!
