The most expensive campsite we’ve stayed on in Sardinia so far. If we had opted for a pitch with just the sea in front of us it would have been an extra 20eu a night.
For that one would have expected toilet paper in the cubicles, the free wifi that works, water that is drinkable and a reasonably stocked shop.
We were told that the water from the tap was unsuitable for drinking but there was still and sparkling water available from a machine. To cut down the impact of plastic on the environment we could use our own bottles and 500ml is only 50c a pop.
Grocery shopping in Palau is not brilliant so the recommendation is one brings what one needs including water!
Taken around to choose a gritty pitch and get connected to the locked power box.
The site is around and back from the shoreline with access to small beaches. There’s a larger one between the site and Palau.
Facilities are good and kept clean and apart from in the washrooms there’s hot water.
On-site café and restaurant are reasonably priced.
The town/port of Palau is no more than a fifteen minute walk away and apart with a number of shops, bars and restaurants.
The port is a jumping off point for trips around the archipelago and half hourly ferry to the island and town of Maddelena.
If an open return ticket is bought the day before it cost us 10eu each for the 15 minute crossing.
The crossing is well worth it as both the town is large and very pleasant to meander around. The Tourist Information Officer suggested that we take a trip around parts of the Island on the regular little white bus. At 1. 50 euro each it was excellent value and quite scenic.
