This is a really nice campsite in a town famous for surfing. Its about 15 minutes walk from the town.
It's family run. The reception is housed in a building that includes a bar area which serves food, a large outside terrace and small shop. They have lots of books and games that you can borrow here. We ate in the restaurant one night, it was very good. There was a band playing here another night, which created a great atmosphere, with people coming in from the holiday apartments located beside the campsite.
There are about 50 pitches on the site, most do not have shade, but the pitches along the edge of the small road have tall trees that provide shade. The Sanitary block was very good, spotlessly clean, divided into 4 sections: ladies showers/sinks and toilets and men's showers/sinks and toilets. The shower section was designed like a sports centre changing room, with a bench in the centre, the exterior door was always kept closed, giving privacy.
There is a gate at the rear of the campsite, this leads you on a path, down steps to a gorgeous cove beach, with stunning rock formations, the cove joins on to other beaches at lower tide, so you can walk along some quieter beaches. The beach here is mainly used by people in the campsite, so it was generally not busy when we were here.
This beach is not good for swimming as the waves are quite high. There were lifeguards up on the cliff, who made sure nobody went out too far, by blowing whistles.
If you follow the path from the main gate of the campsite, it will bring you down steps to the enormous surfing beach. The sand area is enormous, and the tide comes in and out, but never reached the end of the sand area when we were here. The tide leaves huge pools which the children had a great time playing in, but some were deep enough to swim in. There were a lot of people surfing, bodyboarding and SUP'ing. There were lifeguards here too.
From the beach there is a nice promenade area which adjoins the town. The town itself is not the prettiest, but it has a nice seaside vibe, with plenty going on. It has a couple of supermarkets of various sizes and plenty of bars and restaurants. We had a glass of red wine for €2, they then brought out some nice tapas, I tried to explain that we hadn't ordered them, but the lady said they came free with the drinks. This was such a great gesture, the Asturian people are known for their hospitality, and this area didn't disappoint, everyone was very nice and patient and supportive with our limited Spanish.
We really liked it here, the nearest biggest town was Ribadeo. We went in on the 16th of August to have a look around. Everything was closed. It's a public holiday in Spain on the 15th, so we just assumed as this year the 16th fell on Friday, all of the shops took an extra day off. It didn't really matter, as we were happy to get back to the lovely beach at Tapia.
This is a great campsite, in a lovely, unspoilt coastal area.

Delightful site and welcoming owners.
Little shade on this open site a 15 minute walk from the town and port.
Pitches are a good size with electricity and many have views over the coastline. Waterpoints are convenient.
Newish shower and facilities block and while showers have hot water it’s cold through the other taps.
Dishwashing has some warm water taps.
Café on site with some snacks, drinks and access to free good wifi.
There’s access to the cliff top and it’s worth turning left where there’s a dramatic land and seascape. A sheltered beach is down some not too many steps.
