This site is a 15mins walk into Haltwhistle, where the Black Bull serves good food and well kept real ales. Other pubs and eating options in the town.
No hardstands, and the ground was soft and wet, so asked us to park on tarmac outside the bar. Off season, so very quiet, no problem.
Hot water, but no soap or hand drying facilities in the toilet block. 1 shower, 2x20p for 7mins - I normally take less than 3mins in the shower, stood under it for ages to get my moneys worth! Clean, but don't think its heated.
£20 for 2 people for 1 night, and she said she was putting it up to £22. For that price, I'd expect soap and a hand dryer at least, and preferably a free shower.

Have been to this site many times and have always been made very welcome.
Facilities are basic but always clean. Take a couple of 20p pieces for the shower as you don't get too long.
The Bar is ok but with a limited stock.
Full size snooker table which is free, also a pool table. Small playground but very little else for children.
It is a David Bellamy conservation site, and there have been 164 species of birds recorded seen in and around the site.
Lovely walk along the river, and fishing with permission.
Recommend taking 'The Roman Wall' service bus to Carlisle. It takes a while but at least you can sit back and enjoy the scenery.
Also recommend a visit to Lanercost Priory.
There is an open air heated swimming pool in Haltwhistle which is very popular.
Good pubs with real ale.

Stayed for 2 nights, nice quite campsite ideal for 1 or 2 nights stay. Thought we would have noise from the nearby railway line as there was a lot of trains passed when we arrived but they stopped at night. Facilities basic, one shower which cost 20p didn't last long. Toilets clean.
Bar on site which didn't open until 9pm.
Not far into Haltwhistle, some shops for basic needs, plenty of pubs and places to eat.
River behind good for fishing need permission. Not many tents on site mainly static caravans, campsite is ideal if you want to just chill for a couple of days.

Tried to book in at the Hadrians wall campsite but it was flooded so found this one by mistake! Strange place to find - sandwiched between the railway line overhead and the A69, we thought it would be noisier but it was actually quite peaceful due to being surrounded by trees. Arrived to find the reception door shut and no notice of where to find anyone - luckily the daughter arrived and we booked in - £14.50 for 1 night for our campervan, eleccie, 2 adults and a child. Were shown to a tiny touring area next to a tiny swing park - surrounded by statics and some very grotty tourers which had been there for years (1 had a booking tag in the window that said 1987!)Lovely to watch all the rabbits mind. The loos were clean but very cold - the 1 shower in the ladies had a swing door and wasnt fully enclosed so avoided it. It did us for a night but wouldnt go back (the old guy seemed very nice when he did appear and lent us an extension for our electric cable)

March 2005 A hastily Easter break when most others were full.
Seldom Seen is a backwater of Halwhistle, set between the A69 Haltwhistle by-pass, a sewage treatment area and the river north tyne - oh and the railway to Carlisle - Newcastle.
Sounds bad, - we did notice the noise on the 1st day (Maunday Thursday) but perhaps because the roads were busy then. Later on we didn't seem to hear anything - or smell anything from the sewage in fact.
Many statics on site so the toilet block was a bit quiet - small saloon door to the one shower in each side. Gents shower wasn't working for a day after we came but took 20p's for a long period.
Some vans on (very) long term storage & looked a bit of a sight actually.
Overall - I didn't mind too much, but my wife would not come back.
Probably better in summer as they have a bar / cafe which was closed when we were there.
A few hard standings available - most with hookups & a flat site. Birds a chirping all night & loads of rabbits about. Reasonably landscaped - butt those old vans need towing away!
Owners during our time did not seem too positive with us we must admit...
