Very nice, tidy site, very good secure showers & toilets with code number for access to outer door and showers/toilets, cafe on site as well as fine dining,

Pitches were spotless and well manicured, all the staff we encountered on site were pleasant and polite, nothing was too much trouble,

Boats available to hire from site with outboard motors so no rowing, access to York or Nayburn Lock, where you can moor the boat and enjoy a riverside cafe.

Only 15 min's drive to York with plenty of Parking & Shops,

IF you have Children the River Ouse is a Deep Fast flowing river, Dont let them roam

We booked this site based on the location and proximity to York. When we arrived we were very pleasantly surprised by how lovely the site was, it is tucked away down a little side road which opens up to an area which is very well maintained with a coffee shop and restaurant at the side of the river.

I had done the online check-in in advance but only by chance as I hadn’t expected there to be nobody on site, however it wasn’t an issue as I spotted the email in the morning before we arrived.

I would have given 10/10 but deducted 1 point because of the 3 lady’s toilet cubicles, only one had any paper (one was completely empty, the other was jammed) and with there being nobody on site this wasn’t remedied during our stay and there wasn’t an obvious way to report it.

The riverside location was idyllic although we wondered if there would be any disturbance in the night as the site is open to the public, there were a few vehicles (including a van that we think had stayed overnight on the road) but there was no problem at all. My husband actually saw an otter in the river while was amazing.

We only booked 1 night as a little mid-week getaway but would definitely stay again, we cycled easily into York and would love to return and explore more around the area.

Stumbled over this site while staying locally a few weeks ago and were so impressed we decided to have a weekend at the Boatyard ASAP. Fast forward a few weeks and here we are.

The site is in a beautiful location on the edge of a village (Bishopthorpe) with 3 pubs, cafes, a shop and a chip shop. Right next to the river, the site is peaceful and away from roads, but has access to the cafe, pizza oven and restaurant located on the same site. Boats can be hired on site and there are lovely dog walks in both directions.

Easy access to York via bus or walks to local pubs, York Marina, the Ship Inn at Acaster Malbis and lots more.

Toilet and shower facilities are clean, modern and spacious and as the site has only 27 pitches unlikely to be overrun or become too grubby each day.

WiFi is free and good signal. The owner also mentioned they are planning to add more WiFi repeaters so this will only get better.

The site has clearly had a huge amount of investment and the owners mentioned there is more to come. We will definitely be returning, the site is a real gem and look forward to many happy stays here in the future.
