 Greenriggs Cottage is a beautiful site just off a very quiet road in rural Northumberland, but easily accessible from the A road about a mile away.
We visited after a lot of rain, but the five van pitches are hardstanding and level. Jill came out to meet us and tell us the basics despite the rain, and we met Tony later - both are relaxed, friendly and helpful.
There are great views across the moors, and the area is criss-crossed with footpaths, including the nearby Pennine Way.
It is an easy walk to the impressive Lambley Viaduct (disused railway bridge) with spectacular views over the River South Tyne, or to Featherstone castle.
It looks great for cycling too, but we didn't have our bikes with us this time.
The area is a haven for wildlife, with moorland birds visible from the campsite itself - barn owls, kestrels, curlews, and native woods festooned with lichens and mosses.
The facilities are clean and tidy. Our pitch including EHU was a very reasonable £15 a night.
Toilets were under construction at the time of our visit.
