We visited at the beginning of August the grass was very long in the touring section, toilets were clean and adequate. Beware if intending stopping here, we have a land cruiser and conqueror caravan, the turn into the touring section is very tight. We managed but with only millimeters to spare. This is something which wasn't pointed out before arrival but we weren't asked what size of outfit we had either. The children had a great time at the play areas as did Dad!

We went on may bank holiday had a very good weekend. The site was very clean and tidy as were the toilets, BUT!, the toilet block was quite cold in the morning and you had to be first in the queue if you wanted a hot shower. The children's parks were really good and the adults loved it, as well as the kids. There was one for little ones and one for the older kids. The pitches were quite steep and uneven and we (newbies)had trouble leveling the caravan. There was no shop on site, but it was a short-ish walk into Rothbury, where there are plenty of shops, pubs. Banks and a takeaway. Overall I liked it, but if we went back would pitch opposite the adventure playground, which appeared to flatter. Rating - Me 7/10 The wife 5/10

Spent two nights here over a weekend. This is an excellent site clean and tidy shower block is good. Pubs in town are good would recommend the Turks Head food is great and not expensive even though after chatting with friends we left without paying for ours when we remembered the next day they were fine about it! Newcastle hotel is also good. Plenty to keep the kids amused as long as they dont want fruit machines and electronic games

May 2005 Just returned from this campsite, my 5year old daughter loved it, had two very good play parks for the kids which were very easy too see from our pitch. The only disadvantages we had with this campsite was that the showers were cold, there were more showers next to the entrance but did'nt try them. Saying that if the weather had of been nicer the showers would,ve been fine. But when the weather is windy and quite chilly and hot shower is very welcoming, the only other disadvantage was that there was no shop, but all in all a really good site, the owner was lovely aswell.
There is a very nice pub in Thropton bout 2 miles away and the food was gorgeous and reasonably priced. Also some good pubs in Rothbury but we did,nt eat in any of them. Be warned if the petrol station in Thropton is closed you will have to go to Morpeth to fill up! 30 mile round trip.

May 2005 Visited today just to check this site out. However, they no longer take tents. The town of Rothbury is lovely. Suggest you look towards Alnwick for a campsite or Morpeth. Towards the coast look around Craster.
It was a shame as I would have liked a few nights in Rothbury with my family. There is a great play park next to the river and National Trust site's local too.

May 2004 We visited this site early May and had a fantastic weekend. 2 smashing parks for the kids 1 adventure, 1 smaller for littler ones. Shower blocks regularly cleaned and the warden and his wife are lovely couple. A real suntrap, if the weather is good you're guaranteed a sun tan.

July 2003 We visited this site on the first week of the 6 weeks holidays. The site has a large play area for the children and you can see them playing from your pitch which we found really good. We have not found another site all summer where we could see the children playing. The toilets and showers are clean.
You can walk into Rothbury down the hill as long as you don't mind walking back up the hill but if you go for a walk at night you will need a torch as there are no street lights on the road up.

July 2003 Visited this site for the second time for 2 nights midweek during the first week of the summer holidays. The site was about 1/3 full I would say, but apparently it does get busier on weekends. We found the site to be very quiet and peaceful with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. Facilities were very clean at all times. From our pitch I could watch my daughter playing in both of the play areas. She loved the rabbits which are all over the site. The touring area has a relaxed and friendly feel and although there are a lot of static caravans at the site these are quite separate from the touring area. Some of the camping pitches are rather sloping but that's the only negative comment I can really make on what is a very nice site. Will definately go back.

May 2003 We tried to book this site for the early bank holiday but it was full. Managed to go last weekend and realised why it was popular - there are 2 parks for kids - a smaller one for tots and an adventure playground - my 6 year old enjoyed both- right next to the touring area. Not a huge touring area but well sheltered. Loos - very clean - only 3 showers in the ladies and it was too cold for me to risk it!! Plenty hot water and the washing-up area was roofed and well-lit. No shop on site - but only a 1/2 mile into Rothbury which is a lovely village. Nice quiet site - will go again.

We visited this site last year on a very busy bank holliday and found the facilities good. however it did seem a bit overcrowded and noisy especially at night.
