We loved this basic but very quirky site, there is a wedding bus hire business being run from the same site which is very interesting, the old buses all dressed up are real nostalgia. Free showers and old fashioned but clean loos, just like great camping used to be. The view from our hook-up pitch was spectacular, there are 3 great pubs serving good food within a mile or so, The Kings Head at Ravenstonedale is easily reached along a back road and the Lamb Inn is also good. Plenty of walking straight from the camp and great road bking area too - we'll be back

When I arrived no-one greeted me. There was a lady shopping at the local grocery van, she didn't bother to acknowledge me. And waited until I went to the reception and rang the bell before she even looked up. Not very welcoming.

We visited here for one night with a campervan and a small tent. The site is very small, basically a lane with horrible mobile homes on one side and space for tents etc on the other side. The site is not flat. Luckily we found 2 blocks to put the back wheels on to level things up. The electric stopped working while we were there and no-one was around to fix it quickly, it was sorted eventually.

The toilets and shower are very basic and for the money paid £28. I would have expected more.

I only stayed here one night due to bad weather, but would surely go again.

Firstly, this is no ordinary camping or caravan site. The owners possess at least six classic buses and coaches which are worth a visit in their own right.

The site itself is a long strip of land; on the uphill side of the access track are static caravans. On the downhill side is a piece of land where tents and tourers go.

It's not massive - but I get the feeling overcrowding would not be an issue here as it's well managed. It's probably best to ring ahead or book though rather than just turn up.

I took a very small tent as I was travelling light, but my friends put up their 3 berth tunnel tent with no issues. However I think if you had anything bigger you might struggle to fit your tent in.

There's a reasonable toilet block with a shower, and a water tap, but no potwashing facility that could see. It's clean and tidy all round the site too.

The pub up the road is the Fat Lamb. Please take a torch if you will be out after dark, as you have to walk up a fast main road and it gets very dark at night! The pub does reasonable grub but I expected bigger portions for the price. It also seems to get very busy at dinnertime in the evening so ringing ahead to book is wise. The beer's excellent, and the staff are great too.

All in all - a good site within its limitations, but those suit me.
