End Aug 2003 Visited this site on several occasions with family & friends known as the Grasmere 6. Thoroughly enjoyed the B&B which is owned by a delightful family. The road was not a problem for our large Audi cars and certainly worth discovering Ashness, the views are wonderful.
From what we know of the outdoor camping facilities, they are clean and very good. The owners take every care to make your visits enjoyable and do actively encourage the noisy elements not to camp to the delight of the campers and B&Bs. They offer everything a B&B or camper would want. Surprise View offers spectacular views across Derwent and beyond. 10 out of 10 and we will certainly be back, if not only to collect our freezer pack from their freezer.

August 2003 A great campsite for those who prefer more rugged camping as opposed to neatly mowed grass and tents piled high. The access road is not kind to the car but the view is worth the pain. Could do with a couple more showers but otherwise a great site. Will definitely return.

July 2003 Difficult road to get to the site, but well worth it! The family who own the farm are very pleasant and helpful. Showers and toilet facilities are very clean and well maintained. Scenery is wonderful! One word of advice.... if you are near the stream....take plenty of Citronella candles to ward of midgies and are available to buy at the site.

Family of 5 - 2 adults 3 kids aged 5-11. We had a lovely week - despite the rain!
Facilities were basic but OK, small shop at farmhouse sold the basics. Pitches ranged from flat to angled, a lot of the site is on a hill side!
There were beautiful views from the campsite, both of the surrounding hills and Derwent Water & Bassenthwaite Lake. There are lots of good walks from challenging to easy - and if you don't mind cold water you can swim in the nearby falls, well we did!
Keswick town is close by car - a little too far for our 5 year old, and the town had all the shops etc you need.
All in all, a nice site, lots of good walks and lovely views. 7/10.
