Just been to oakbank lakes with my caravan for 3 day
Site ok, hookup on most pitches, with room for tents
A quiet place used by fishermen and some seasonal pitches,
Toilets clean with drinking water nearby
Site mile and a half from longtown on the A7 with Gretna Green 4 miles down the road and Carlisle 12 miles
But if you are coming for the fishing, as I did, be warned its syndicate fishing
There is some walks around the 3 lakes

We used this site as our final destination before returning home the next day, having read the reviews we thought it was well worth a look. We arrived on site and was welcomed by a lovely lady who kindly showed us to our pitch. The site had several seasonal units but looked as if noone had been for a while, we were the only people staying that night. Beautiful during the day time, with lovely views and lakes to walk around, but come night time was a little eerie (I never left the Motorhome, thank goodness we have a toilet and washing facilities). I'm sure had there been more people on site I would have felt much safer. Having said that, at only ten pound per night with hook up it is definitely worth a visit

Our second visit - after visiting 3 years ago.
Nothing much changed, still very quiet and the site looks same - all pitches set between trees which gives a lot of privacy. Majority of the site now seems to be taken with seasonal vans.
Toilets clean and 1 shower in ladies was clean if a little old looking.
Would say the site goes more for the seasonal fishing trade - but its still a great base to tour in the borders if you like peace and quiet.
Gretna is only 10 minutes up the road and well worth the visit, the small shopping outlet park is lovely and sells most things.
At £10 with hookup its certainly value for money and we would visit again.

We have just spent 4 nights at this beautiful site. Scenery and surroundings are lovely and peaceful, I would say this is more a fishery that you can stay on rather than a campsite
Showers and toilets, although reasonably clean are a bit run down and need attention, not really much hot water in the showers, but we ended up just using the facilities in our motorhome, I supposed at £10 a night what can you expect.
Fishing was great, if you fished on the small lake it was free for campers, the other 3 lakes ranged from £15 - £20 for a 24hr ticket, absolutely huge fish can be caught here. There are no day visitors to the lake as it is members only or if you are booked into the caravan site you can fish.
Warden could not have been more helpful and extremely friendly. There were not many pitches left as most of them are taken by sited tourers, but they were very friendly. Tescos about 15mins away just off Junction 43 M6 and small shop in village for provisions.
We will definitely be returning again, can not wait, just hope too many people do not read my review and decide to go!

We struck gold with this one - saw a sign and followed into what must be one of the loveliest sites we have visited.
The site if very natural - pitches are between tree and hard standing available. The site is next to Oakbank Lake and the owners were happy for us to walk round the 3 lakes as long as we didn't disturb the fishermen. Beautiful walks, fabulous scenery and really friendly and helpful campsite staff. Toilet and showers very clean and plenty of hot water.
Less than 5 miles into Gretna and well worth being a little off the beaten track for the sheer peacefulness of the site.
Highly recommend to anyone looking for a bit of back to nature.
