We chose to stay at this site during our visit to Wigan to see family. There aren't many campsites in the area, so discovering this one nearby was a real find. It's a newly established site that offers a peaceful and tranquil setting. It features three hardstanding pitches, 16amp EHU, water, and elsan disposal facilities.
The owner of the site is incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We had no trouble locating the site, and it provides a secure environment for guests with padlocked gates - you are provided a key for your stay.
The pricing is fair at £22 per night, including EHU.
Conveniently situated between junctions 26 and 27, this site is an ideal stopover for those travelling on the north-south route of the M6, offering a perfect overnight resting place.
There is some noise from the nearby motorway, but it's not too intrusive.
Note that there's no facilities for children, and limited dog walking areas on the working farm.
We really enjoyed our stay here, many thanks to Pam.

Only recently reopened. Very friendly owner. Space for 3 units on level hardstanding with EHU. £22 night includes EHU.
Site very close to M6 and you certainly can hear it constantly (this did bother us to be honest, constant hum of motorway all weekend). It would be good as a 1 night stopover if you don't mind the noise of the traffic.
You need to contact the owner to arrange access to the site (she arranges to meet you at a specific time at the gate to let you in) as the site is also used for caravan storage, so it is very secure with CCTV.
You get a key to the gate during your stay to get in and out. Pitch looks directly at the stored units unless you point towards the trees as we did.
You need your own facilities as there are no toilets or showers on site. If you have a dog, they must be on the lead at all times due to horses.
Lovely walks from just outside the site, along the canal to either Appley Bridge or Wigan. Pubs in walking distance don't do food. There's a Co-op and takeaways in the nearby village (pizza/curry).
Good TV and 5G phone network.

This is our second vist and I would agree with the other reviews a lovely site costing £8. 00 per night with elec. For folding camper and 2 adults extra £1. 50 for each child.
The walk into Wigan along the canal is a nice walk but about 4 miles.
We did not notice any motorway noise I think this depends on which way the wind is blowing.

This is a wonderful, quiet and scenic location, it is well situated for Wigan town centre, without any impairment to the landscape, the train station is 3 min walk, and it is only one stop to Wigan town centre.
There is excellent local eating facilities, also here is a trail/cycle path along the canal, which spans at least 2 miles in each direction, the canal is the Leeds and Liverpool canal.
The site is maintained to a exceptionally high standard, and the proprieters are friendly and helpful.
