What a lovely site this is. We were a bit dubious about visiting after reading the previous reviews but decided to give it a go. All facilities were clean and tidy, everyone was very friendly and helpful. The pitches were well spaced out and well positioned. Lots of nice places to visit in this area, Portpatrick is a lovely place for a day. Stranraer was a good day out as well. Could not fault this site in any way. Well done, we will be returning to this site as often as we can.
Booked into this site for 8 nights this month after staying in the Lake District. The site itself is clean and tidy. To enter the toilets it is by key access and has music inside and they are very clean and tidy with 2 showers in each. There is a loch next to it and you can fish there free as long as you pay for any fish you keep. The onsite shop provided papers, milk and just a few other items and was open for a short while in the morning and again in the afternoon. For any other supplies you would really need to go into Stranraer preferably by car. We cycled there one day and although it was only 5 miles away about 3 miles of that is downhill there and then uphill back. It certainly was a strain returning to the site as along the way it poured down with rain and it seemed like gale force winds were against us. Stranraer itself was a dull place and nobody looked remotely happy there and we were glad to leave there. Back at the site they had a club house which opened at 8pm in the evening but you couldn’t get any meals or hot food here. The pool is described as being in a suntrap but when we were there we did not see much sun and it was still quite windy. We had to return home early due to a family crisis and explained our predicament to them hoping for some of our money back (we left 3days early) but were told they can’t refund any money at all which I thoughtwas a little hard due to our circumstances. Overall the site is clean and tidy but you have to travel if you want to keep yourself entertained. The shop is very basic and the club isn’t open for long nor do they make any food whatsoever. The lake is good and also the amenities. The owners are also very friendly. We would not return to this site as it is too quiet for us and too remote and nothing nearby. It is a poor area to cycle due to the roads being very hilly.
First time at this immaculate site and whilst we had decided to stop only for a couple of days we finished up staying for 14! It was that good!Hard standing for the van near to showers and toilets-immaculate with piped music to add to the comfort!
Linda and Billy the resident managers were helpful and friendly.Stunning part of Scotland with the coastal areas stunningly beautiful.Costs were very reasonable at about £12 per night.Nice little club within the park-small and cosy and only open at the weekends when we were there.Just a few miles South of Stranraer a good stopping off point for Ireland ferrys. You will enjoy !
