Just had a fantastic 2 night stay over, set in the middle of a lovely forest fair size pitches,
Good clean facilities,
Peaceful and quiet sitting with nature, lovely walks and also a dedicated dog walk and even a dog bath its in fact a dog haven and we haven't got a dog !
All the usual EHU, chemical and dirty water outlets, charming owners, and online book in at £20 a night including ehu in November I thought the rate was reasonable and sensible. (perfect)

Easy to get too from M5 J26. Lovely site, accommodating motorhomes and tents.
Showers, toilets and washing facilities on both levels of fields, dog shower as well.
We were on a level pitch, which had picnic bench, and beside trees. Lovely quiet and peaceful place.
We walked to the lakes on site, but I believe there are forest walls opposite the site entrance, which we'll try next time.
Small shop within reception selling basics and gas. Great value for money at £24 per night.

Please read the review below mine from February.
Totally endorse everything they said.
It's a lovely quiet campsite.
My only concern would be at busy summer periods when the camping field is open.
Not sure how well the facilities would cope as some of the limited amount available are dual shower and toilet.

A quiet campsite in a wooded valley with on site fishing ponds and plenty of walking opportunities, providing access to local nature reserves and beautiful woodland.
This is the most beautiful and peaceful campsite we have stayed on and Jodie and Tristan made us feel like part of the family.
The shower/toilet blocks are second to none and the on site shop supplied us with essentials when we unexpectedly ran out.
The local pubs provide fantastic food and the campsite location is well placed for trips to the coast and local towns are only 10 minutes away.
We will absolutely come back as soon as we can!

I chose this site despite no reviews as it was ideal for us on our journey down to Devon. I was sad that we could only spend a night there as we had to press on for our trip.
The warden came up to meet us when we rang from the free phone on arrival. He was pleasant and informative.
The facilities clean and well maintained.
There were 2 local pubs in walking distance that ultimately we were too tired to visit. The price was very good with the hook up.
The setting was quiet and lovely amongst big woodlands for the kids to explore and a fishing lake. The atmosphere was friendly and the barb-b-ques and open fires added to a great site. Would love to go go back.

I've just returned from this site and it appears to have had some work done since the last reviews.
The site is in several sections.
The top part has some new hard standing pitches with electric points and a lovely toilet block with individual bathrooms, wash up and laundry.
In the bottom field the block there has wet rooms, the electric hook points are grouped together so cables trailing across field seemed a bit of an issue and pitches were a bit crowded together, had more of a festival feel to it over bank holiday weekend.
In the woods are a couple of yurts and caravans to rent and also some tent pitches with picnic tables.
Tent camping is also availble around the fishing lakes.
Campfires were allowed, but in fire pits only, which could be rented from reception.
Small shop selling a few basics and some lovely local bacon, sausages, burgers.
The real downside for me was there was not much to do within the vicinity. I had gone for walking but despite numerous footpaths the walking was not ideal, overgrown paths, broken bridges, fallen trees, bogs and stiles that were not at all dog friendly, lots of lifting! Very disappointing, though this is not the fault of the campsite but the local council.
Would I go again, yes for a night or two with friends or family as I think its a great place for a friendly social gathering.

Bathroom facilities
One shower for women and one for men. No timer on the shower; I did have a nice hot shower apart from a lengthy section in the middle where it ran freezing cold. Bathroom facilities are undeniably old and shoddy (folding doors to the gent's cubicles) but always very clean. They regularly ran out of toilet paper in the ladies. At one point there was obviously a plan to build a new bathroom block, but this has been abandoned. We got quite fit walking up the short but very steep hill to the old block.
Site is small and if busy tents can be squashed together (I would say too close - no minimum distance was imposed for fire safety).
Would I return? Actually, yes. Because the site also has wonderful woods, broadleaf and pine, which are completely open to campers. We took chairs and beers and set ourselves up in a shady clearing while the kids spent the weekend running around the trees and building dens.
There is a nice communal fire and there are recycling facilities. I can't comment on the fishing as we didn't fish. Short walk to the pub which is suitable for families.
I would recommend this site to anyone with young children who wants to get out into nature and isn't too bothered about bathroom facilities.

This campsite is in a rural location, four miles from Junction 26 on the M5. We stayed here for one night on our way to St Ives and pitched in the lower camping field without hook up. The field is surrounded by trees and is a very pleasant tranquil area. As we arrived fairly late we did not look around and therefore I cannot comment on the lake.
The toilet/shower facilities are simple and reasonably clean, but having seen the state of the floor in the ladies when the shower had leaked for a previous occupant, I decided against risking it myself. There was a cheval mirror in the ladies which I thought was a nice touch. (2 toilets and 1 shower in the ladies. ) There are laundry and washing-up facilities but as we only stayed for one night I did not really pay any attention to them.
We ate at the Merry Harriers a short walk away – the food was delicious and very reasonably priced.
I would stay again, but probably only for one night unless they upgrade the ladies shower.

Me and three friends had a fishing weekend at Kingsmead Centre June 2011. First the good points a beautiful site, friendly owners, a great pub at the end of the road, a wildlife haven and very quiet. And the bad points the static caravan we stayed in was very very old. It was clean and cheap so I suppose you get what you pay for. The top fishing lake was very weedy and some parts of the banks where impossible to fish from. The people fishing there never had any decent size fish all weekend. We went to the bottom lake a wonderful spot but anyone who is old or not great at walking will struggle because it is a very steep and loose surface to walk on. The fishing was very poor, we are all experienced fisherman both match and specimen and struggled. It is full of small silver fish bream, roach and rudd. The biggest carp we had was about a pound, but we did see a five pounder come out. One of the regulars said otters got in and wiped out all the big stuff out. The owner is restocking so maybe it would be worth giving it another go in a couple of years. If you want a cheap peaceful place to stay yes. If you want to go for the fishing maybe not !
