Ok so my opinion of sunny side. 10 of us camped up in field 5. Was like size of a farmers field. Massive. 1000's of people! if your looking for a site where your partying and nights out dont stop around the clock, sunnyside is it! it really doesn't stop! going to sleep at 5am with people still with loud music waking at 8 still with the loud music going! Unlike rosecliston in 2005 I found sunnyside a really good atmosphere. Everyone was up for mingling. It was £25 for the boardmasters weekend with £30 deposit and £7.95 a night after that!
We did have to queue for 1 half hrs to book in and same to get deposits back. The facilities do kind of let the site down, there were 4 porty loos for our field and they were 400m from our tent. The showers in the main area were ok, but queueing was a nightmare! My advise is shower on Fistral beach at the end of the day and get changed out the back of the car in the carpark to go out.
There was a double decker bus running every 10 mins from Sunnyside to Newquay for only £3 each with return. SS is about 5 miles outside Newquay.
This year I'd say was about 50-50 girls and boys, which is always good! Sunnyside take all male groups and have unlimted space. I would definately go back. They could do with another shower block though. Peace out!

I was just looking to book my next holiday and stumbled across these reviews. I stayed at Sunnyside last year and although the holiday wasnt perfect (lack of beauty sleep caused me to look 20 years older and queing frustrated me) I still had an excellant time. Height of the season you've got to expect to que a bit and seeing as its an 18 to 30's site it really aint the place for those who like a quiet life. And the bus wasnt that bad - although I did feel like I was on some kind of rugby tour with the blokes singing and swigging beer! And if you think £2 each is expensive for a taxi at 3am then i'd really like to live where you do! If your up for a great fun, dirty weekend away with drinking and debauchery this is the place for you but if you want to get your 8 hours sleep a night I suggest you stay at home!

July 2005 I had read a lot of bad reviews before I went and feared the worst... when I arrived there I realised how right I was!
I honestly believe that noone goes to sleep at this site, people are playing football at 4 in the morning (kicking the ball at everyone's tent!), playing music as loud as possible all night and generally being as loud as they can!
The field we stayed on was on a hill, so we woke up every morning at the bottom of the tent! We were also quite far from the toilets n showers block which wasn't that handy! The toilets and showers aren't as bad as some reviews I have read, although the showers are fairly cold and switch off every 5 seconds! The 'beauty room' as they call it, was small...with not many mirrors for a lot large number of girls trying to get ready! There are very few plug sockets and you have to pay to get your phone charged behind the desk! I'd make sure they actually charge it, as when my friend paid for her phone to be charged they hadn't even plugged it in corectly!
The cafe only sells greasy food and is overpriced! The small shop on site doesn't sell very much, however is open until 3am. The buses that run from the campsite to town are old and tatty and pretty unreliable. Sunnyside is quite a distance from Newquay town, so you will have to catch the bus or minibus to do anything!
Checking out takes quite a while... and don't lose your plastic wristbands, otherwise you have to pay a fee! The staff don't really pay much attention to you and don't really seem to know what they are doing!

September 2004 11 of us camped for 7 nights from the 31st August. The place is nice enough. About an hours walk from town, with buses running back and forth regularly and mini-bus taxis are easily available for £2 per person. The toilets / washroom weren't bad, but the water kept going off for periods of time on several occasions, meaning no shower / flushing toilets. The site was busy for the time, but still quite quiet and you could pretty much do what you wanted without complaint. The swimming pool, apparently was disgusting, but the shop, takeaway cafe were decent, whilst the nightclub was only open for the 1st night we were there, and had nobody in it except for us and the staff. **3/4

August 2004 Generally a very good site, it caters for people my age (19). The staff in reception are very helpful and obliging, enabling us to move from a flooded field 6 to the homely field 4!
The bus service is a good idea, but expensive at £3 a return and takes ages because the buses are old and slow.
The shower block next to field 4 is great because it is very new but there are peak time queues for the gents showers! Above the shower block is the Salsa cafe and bar which is relaxed and seems just like a student union (but without the cheap student prices)
Things to watch out for: --- long queues on Saturday check-in day --- the very very very bumpy road on the way into campsite (make sure you drive a 4x4!!!) --- the oblivion nite club is a bit cheesy, it's much better to go into town!

July 2004 What appeared to be not as bad as expected at first, turned out to be exactly as expected.
I knew there would be problems when they were insufficiently staffed for our arrival leading to queuing for over an hour to get a key and wristbands.
The bedrooms themselves were not so bad, although huge spiders and bugs did tend to navigate the walls.
And the living area was quite spacious and we could sit with the rest of our group who were in another caravan watching the small but adequate tv.
However, the kitchen area caused great difficulty, the oven and grill being like something out of the stone age, and the hob very difficult to ignite. Our neighbours all had similar problems.
Moreover, the cooking equipment was entirely metal, and having been provided with no tea towels or oven gloves, we repeatedly burnt ourselves whilst trying to cook some sort of food.
There was also no loo roll or bin bags, so make sure to take some.
The cafe was actually very nice, and the shop quite cheap, but in terms of the town- it is a huge lie when it says its quite near. Taxis charge a minimum of £8 or £2 a person for groups of 5 or more, and every night, and during the morning rush for the beach, 5 or more groups of people battled for the 3 taxis that were going back and forth on the 10 minute journey. Most days we had to wait 40minutes to get to town, and the bus requires queuing in order to squeeze like tinned sardines in the door.
The bathrooms were disgusting, and the sink continuosly blocked. The caravan itself did also seem to be falling apart. Perhaps it was just the "Beech" area we were staying in, but considering the awful state of the road leading up to the site I doubt it.
Plus, the company themselves spend a lot of effort trying to make money from us, charging us for use of the key and for a new wristband.
While I had a good holiday, if I were to ever go to Newquay again, I wouldn't choose Sunnyside myself.

August 2003 Sunnyside wasn't bad for a 18-30's campsite. Camping facilities are good with brand new shower/toilet block. The Caravans are basic but have microwaves and everything else you may need. The nightclub is a bit cheesy but if you are up for a laugh this is the place to stay in Newquay. With the regular bus from the campsite to the centre of Newquay it makes the holiday all much easier.

August 2003 Great Campsite for those wanting to party hard. Not for the average happy campers!! Bus's run regular to Newquay and back and facilities not too bad. Only let downs were the showers which are to hot and well not all that clean, and the fact there no electric for the tents or in the bathrooms - girl be prepared to leave your straightners at home!! Otherwise great place to let your hair down even if it is frizzy!!!
