Pros: Stunning location with fantastic views of highest single drop waterfall in UK from our dinette window.
Cons: Cost (possibly the most expensive campsite in UK). No facilities (no chemical disposal point or rubbish bins either).
Public toilets in car park were possibly the worst smelling in Wales (local council should be ashamed given waterfall is rated one of the seven wonders of Wales).
Caution: Very narrow approach road unsuitable for caravans or larger motorhomes.
It is a case of location, location, location.

This was our second visit here. Last time we had our concerns about the facilities. The toilets are Council run and nothing to do with the campsite. They are smelly, dirty and not nice to be in. There is one double sink outside which again was dirty.
So what do you get for the £25 membership fee as well as £5 per person per night? you get an amazing view of the waterfall and some grass to pitch your tent with a fire pit.
The major positives are the no noise policy. Unfortunately, this was being ignored by some rather unpleasent hippies that had hired the whole of the bottom field.
Dont go here expecting any sort of luxury, there is none. And don't forget anything, 4 miles to the nearest village or 30 min to oswestry. Mainly on single track roads.

I visited this site with two other adult family members all in separate tents and the total cost was £35.00. + £5 for a bag of fire wood. It is a members only site and I paid £20 for one years membership which included the other two tents as family members and £5 per person per night. We stayed for one night to complete a planned walk up the waterfall into the Berwyns.
It is a very basic site and the toilets are in the car park for the waterfall. 1 ladies and 1 gents.
There is one water standpipe at the entrance to the camping fields.
No showers or washing up facilities.
The fields are a pitch anywhere type and there is plenty of room. We were a bit out of season being the end of September and we shared the whole place with one campervan.
Streams run around the campsite and the waterfall is beautiful. We had a campfire in one of the fire pits that are scattered throughout the site, and toasted sausages under the stars.
I would definitely go again but I would be loath to spend more than two nights and not in the main season because of the limited facilities.
They do cater for large groups and have a no noise policy which makes for a peaceful time where you can relax and enjoy the experience.
The location is wonderful but if you need any basic necessities you will have to bring them with you the drive in down the lane must be 3 miles, and it is the inly road in.

I spent many years visiting this site under its previous ownership and several years also under the current ownership. Sadly the site is now operated in a very restrictive fashion, in its old incarnation there was always a lovely mix of people, who rubbed along together admirably. The prices were very reasonable, the welcome warm and all were welcome. The site was a hidden gem, a great place to relax at the weekend. My hope is that one day it will return to its old carefree ways.

We visited this campsite quite regularly a couple of years ago and never had any complaints about our behaviour, we always respected the beautiful environment we were surrounded by. However, when visiting recently we were not given a very friendly welcome. We felt we were vetted by the owner of the site and then told of the £20 membership fee we would need to pay before we could camp. The campsite is still exactly the same with the same facilities (very little) but as well as the fee there are also strict rules such as NO alcohol. We decided to stay but we were not made to feel welcome by the owner and felt like he was watching us for the whole of our stay. We had a young child with us but we felt the owners of the site still thought we would be partying all night and causing a nuisance. We felt very disappointed.

Have very much enjoyed our visits to this campsite over the past couple of years, but on arrival this year we found some unhappy changes - it's now a MEMBERS ONLY site (£20 per year, and £5 p/p/n). Bit of a blow to say the least. Site manager suggested we go to Bala 'where there are 3 campsites to choose from' but we went home (3 hour trip) very disappointed. Shame.
