June 2004 This site is excellent. Good facilities and the most amazing location. It does have that horrid caravan park feel with everyone packed in. The surrounding area, gardens and attractions are excellent: Frenchman's Creek, The Halzephron pub at Gunwalloe was excellent so was the the gardens Trebah which are easy to access as it the rest of Lizard peninsular. Only downside if you are after a beach holiday they are not many sandy beaches very close.
PS: dont leave any food out at night as the hedgehogs and squirrels are very quick!

August 2004 Unfortunately, this site is now closed.
We are really struggling to find some where in Cornwall to go now. They all have a lot to live up to.
The site and facilities and location were all the best we have ever been to. Our family, along with a lot of the other campers here came back year after year. Angie and Ginger, the wardens were very good - patient with the teenagers and their parents.
Lord Vyvyan the owner was a friendly chap too.
This site will be much missed.

July 2004 Just what we've been looking for, not too quiet and not too noisy, a lovely site. A big playing field for children of all ages to play on while parents can have a well earnt drink at the Inn, good facilities, amazing wildlife, birds of prey, owls etc. Disppointed to read this might be the last year caravans/tents are permitted, would definitely want to return to this site in the future.

June 2004 This site is everything the other reviewers have said. For the beaches I would add Karrack Sands - nice beach and as it is on the Eastern side of the peninsula it is sheltered from the prevaling SW winds, Has a toilet and 2 small cafe's.
HOWEVER !! - There is a strong rumour that this will be the last year it will be available for caravans and tents. They are allegedly going to have pine lodges although even the staff are not completly sure.

1998,1999, 2000, 2001,2002, 2003, 2004 Regular visitors to this site. Great for kids and adults. Lovely walks, visit the spooky foguo if you dare - you'll need a torch. No shop but you can order milk, bread and pasties from Ginger and Ang in reception, but Tesco nearby in Helston. Small friendly pub, take-away on an evening. Lots of hot water for showers/potwash etc. Peaceful at night - listen to the seals from Gweek Seal Sanctuary at 4.00 am when the wind is in the right direction. Easy to get to beaches - try Gunwallow Church Cove, Cadgewith, Porthleven. Will probably go back again next year and the year after and the year ..............

May 2003 Seven of us just spent a week camping in Trelowarren.
This is a lovely campsite within the grounds of a stately home.
There are acres of land to walk in with some amazing countryside views.
Facilities are showers, laundry, dishwashing, pub, take away service and small shop selling camping basics (magnum icecreams are basics surely).
This is a very friendly site and the pitches are well spaced. There are no unwanted noises (unless you hate the bird dawn chorus). There is a mixture of caravans and tents and several different locations to choose from. Some of the pitches are more open than others so watch out for the wind...
My personal view is that the facilities are fine but not the best. The location more than makes up for this as does the friendly environment. Good for children as completely private, there is some playground stuff for them. I've not been camping many times so thought it was not the cheapest site - you will have to take that call.
The nearest Tesco/shop is about a 15 minute drive into Helston.
This is a really central location with a Church Cove (beach) only about 10 minutes drive.
Hope this proves useful to you. We really enjoyed it - some of our group are planning to return in the summer holidays....

June 2002 Have just returned from a wonderful six nights at Trelowarren. A beautiful and very peaceful location in the grounds of a large estate. We spotted many different birds and even saw three badgers on the perimeter lane as we came home late one evening. Lots of beautiful wild flowers and wonderful walks in the grounds. Also a craft shop and rather smart bistro.
The showers were fantastic and the ladies even has a bath in one cubicle which I thought would be great for tinies who hate having water in their eyes from the shower. A hairdryer is also available using 20p's.
The site has a shop which only really sells camping bits and changes ice packs but will also let you order bread and milk for the next day. There is also a sweet little pub which welcomes children inside!! Outside the pub there is a field for kids to play football and a couple of swings also a games room with telly, pool table and table football.
Overall, I cannot fault the site. We stayed in the walled garden which is very sheltered. The other emplacements are either in what was the orchard or a more open field with views towards the Helford River. There are lots of wonderful beaches etc to visit in the locality.
