The touring site has now closed down, and no longer takes touring caravans or tents! Only pine lodges are available now

May 2003 Stayed here 1 night in May. Paid £15 for a very uneven pitch. Spent a good half hour in the rain trying to get level. No TV reception at all. I was told by reception that it was because it was raining! then he said all their pine lodges were fitted with boosters because of the poor reception--so why not tourers? The toilets were disgusting. Dirty, smelly with cobwebs everywhere.
Thought the whole place looked in need of some TLC. Definately won't be going there again.

March 2003 We visited this site as a family with 3 small kids for a weekend together with another family with 2 small kids, following numerous recommendations on the facilities. The site was clean and we enjoyed a large pitch seperated by bushes.
We were disappointed at the showers and toilets with only 2 showers out of 5 working(in the Mens), toilets were not particularly clean either. There was very little heating which didn't go down very well with the young ones after the shower. We did complain at the reception only to be told that 2 showers was more than enough for the site size - not the response you would expect !! We paid £15 / night and have had much better facilities for £10 / night.
We didn't get chance to try all the facilities, but the kids did enjoy the play area.

August 2001 We originally booked into this site for two nights with the intention of moving on somewhere else midweek. It did not work out that way. We enjoyed the site and surrounding area that much we decided to stay the whole week. This area of the country offers a whole host of activities and I would recommend you try it for yourself. The kids enjoyed The Wind in the Willows exhibition which is only about 10mins drive from the site. The site staff will also recommend many other places of interest. I strongly suggest you log on to the Darwin Forest website to get the directions into the site as there is a hill in one direction that is not recommended for caravans.
