Basic site, just a field, not very flat but ok for 1 night just passing through. Facilities are toilet and kitchen only with microwave, toaster, kettle etc.
Was littered with old campfire sites so I presume this was acceptable.
Wouldn’t stay as a family but like I say its a good stop for a night solo hiking.

May just be OK if camping on the C2C with a one man tent you may just find a flat spot! at the bottom of the field, just be careful as I nearly got run over late at night by some landrovers.
When I arrived the field was full of mole hills which had been flattened with a mower like a wacky races track so field was rough as! further there was burnt out fires all over the place. The toilet was clean and plenty of toilet paper but the rest was very gruby. There was some tea and coffee provided with powdered milk, a fridge, kettle, toaster & microwave provided but not plugged in. There is no shower and just a 1. 5 sink to washup etc in.
It is about a 10 min walk to the village facilities, pub, hotel, shops, B&B's. The beer and food in the Sation hotel was not to bad for pub food

As the previous reviewer pointed out, this is really just a farmer's field, but it does not have great views (you have to walk for those), and it is full of litter and spent camp fires.
The kitchen/ toilet area is very dirty, and the derogatory comments in the visitors book do not give the place a nice feel. It seems to attract people who don't want rules, and therefore noise and mess are inevitable. Note that you also have to cross the road for access to all facilities.
On the plus side, it's cheap, you have access to free coffee & tea, and the ten minute walk to the village with shops, pubs and trains is convenient. If you are doing the Coast to Coast and just want a field to sleep in, then you might be OK with it. But Glaisdale and Littlebeck offer much better alternatives.

Just been to this camp site, well actually it's a farmers field. Was very basic, only had 1 toilet 1 sink. The owners were very friendly and you can have small camp fires, which is a bonus. Definitely will be going back loved it.
The site is right next to the Grosmont steam engine and the views are quite amazing. You can go for long walks through the village along the stream, which is very nice in hot weather.
You can be quite noisy but respectable at the same time. It is very hilly, ok if your young and can climb.

This is an over all excellent camp site with basic but adequate facilities.
The farmer is very friendly and good with his rules(in fact there are very few) camp fires are allowed and there is no cut off time for bbqs or noise yet the site is very quiet, children and pets are allowed and can find plenty to do in the surrounding areas.
The surrounding area contains nice walks for the hiker in you, there is a river for the keen fisherman. About 5 minutes walk to the nearest village you will find a pub a local shop and the north Yorkshire moors steam railway and there is also a playing field and a forestry commission walk.
All in all I would recommend this site to anybody and we will be returning.

Stayed on this campsite while doing the coast to coast.
Was alright. The farmer was friendly. There not many rules on this campsite which is cool. Is ok if you don't mind some noise. Maybe not so good if you want chill but if want drink and have a fire then its fine.
There is a toilet and a sink is very basic not very clean but this is a cheap campsite no frills. There are shops near by
