Staff were lovely, really helpful,
Toilets were immaculate and smelt clean and citrus.
Choose a quiet spot as had a nervous dog, good walks,
Enjoyed our stay, will come back again.
Close to Glenrothes, lots of shops, close to Dundee and close to Dunfermline where our family live

Booked 2 nights, stayed 4 - enjoyed our break here. We chose our own pitch, didn't notice the nesting rookery so our MH now needs to be cleaned!
The new Managers (Andy & Rachel) are delightful & helpful; they're working all hours to spruce up the site; the facilities are pristine & closed at a sociable time for cleaning.
The site might be too shady for us in summer; and another time, I'd pay a tad more for "with awning" though we don't use one, because there are far more pitches to chose from & they're bigger and flatter than the "no awning" pitches. About £30pn.
We loved having Balbirnie Park next door, so did the dog - I don't think we walked the same path twice (one reason we stayed longer) & the rhodies were beautiful. We got the bus to Methilhill heading west from outside the site - it stops at Leven (huge sandy beach, Fife Coastal Path).
A eastbound bus to Glenrothes bus station linked to a bus to St Andrews (historic town, special vibe). We also recommend Backhouse Rossie estate near Falkland - beautiful gardens & woodland walks, and an excellent outdoor eatery.
Falkland and its Palace are also worth visiting (but the Palace is very expensive if you're not NT or NTS members).

We have stayed here countless times. Nice woodland site. We couldn't get into the first pitch offered as the angle was too strange for reversing our outfit but we simply moved into the next one with straightforward reversing.
The caravan was under a tree and the weather made for quite a noisy Friday night in the rain but that's no real hardship. We had a wee walk to the local pub for a couple of drinks then picked up a Chinese takeaway to have back in our van. Easy walk.
The toilets were cleaned in a flash on Saturday morning despite the site looking full and my husband stated they are always the cleanest on any site we stay on. Praise indeed.
We normally cycle but the weather wasn't with us so had a wander around Glenrothes town before back for some reading and a snooze.
We left Sunday morning somewhat restored for the week ahead.
There was a slight wrinkle caused by a neighbour. They had a very interesting converted vehicle which made a noise like a fog horn in the distance at night and in the morning.
Perhaps something to do with a generator or water? It didn't keep us awake but distracted us - we thought fog horn at first and wondered why when so inland - not sure how the owners can remedy but something for them to e aware of if they read this.

Excellent site. Helpful and friendly wardens. Site set in trees with shale pitches.
Not much in the village but not a problem to us as we catered for ourselves. If you like walking you will love it.
We have two dogs and Balvernie park immediately outside the entrance is acres and acres of fields, walks and trees.
We will be back as soon as we can.
Facilities spotless, showers hot, Squirrel's for entertainment. Brilliant.

This a country park site with lots of trees and not much in the way of views.
It’s been a while since we used a CAMC club and, as usual the wardens are only interested in you complying with the 1001 rules that they have, nothing about enjoy your stay or treating you like a customer, it feels more like a military boot camp. They really need to start having a bit more of a relaxed, holiday feel about their approach.
They also need to remember there are lots of sites out there that as as good as, if not better than CAMC sites with better facilities including free wi-fi…. So get a grip.
On the plus side it’s handy for the local village and the train station which connects you to Edinburgh etc.
Of course, there’s plenty of choices of sites in this area that are a bit more easy going and relaxed, life is too short for a site with wardens who’s only aim is quote Headquarters rules….

Booked for 6 nights and stayed for 4. Found the area where we were told to pitch up to be very claustrophobic and quite dark due to the huge trees which kept out any sunlight from our pitch.
The worst part was being pitched next to, and overlooked by, a row of council flats. Couldn't wait to move away.
The park itself is really beautiful and offers lovely walks, but could not be seen from our motorhome.
The facilities were very good and very clean.
The little town is pretty and has two convenience stores and a couple of cafes.

We were very warmly welcomed by Jo. The site is perfect for dogs as it is next door to many acres of parkland where dogs can run off the lead. Facilities were immaculate.
Markinch has a small Co-op which is open every day until 10pm.
This is a good base for the coastal villages of East Neuk and St Andrews.
This is a woodland site and nearly all the pitches are under trees. Personally we didn’t like the lack of light in the van or the noisy rain on the roof (sounded louder and lasted longer due to the heavy branches).
The couple who run this site clearly work very hard to keep it well maintained.

This is a nice site in a wooded area in the centre of Markinch. Usual clean CMC facilities are on offer.
Some very nice walks in the nearby Balbirnie park which feels quite remote. We didn't venture into Markinch, partly because we don't live far from the site and we were largely using this is a stopping point whilst heading north.
We do know however that there are shops and bars in Markinch itself and there are lots of larger supermarkets in Glenrothes which is very close by.

We have just spent 4 nights on this peaceful site. It is divided up into several defined areas, some of which are open grassy areas but most of the site is wooded. It is also on a gentle slope, so come prepared.
The toilets and showers were kept spotlessly clean by the friendly couple who run the site. Information room full of leaflets about the area plus a swap shelf for books and DVDs.
It is on the edge of the town of Markinch, so an easy walk into town for supplies. It is also next door to a huge park with lots of paths to walk on.
We found some nice quiet roads to the north and the east to cycle on.

Me and my mom went for very first camping ever. I have choose Balbirnie because is not very far from us and it looked there are great walking paths to our dogs.
Very good place, friendly staff, very clean toilets. What was little annoying: the loud from the street and some noise from outside during the day.
We definitely come back for next year.
