Small campsite next to Hostel with a friendly, welcoming warden. Flat, firm pitches. Clean, showers and toilets. Dish washing, drinking water taps and cooking area. Drying room, useful for typical Scottish showers or mountain extreme weather changes affecting walkers resulting in soaked boots, clothes etc. Mobile device charging point and free wifi included in price and situated in shower/toilet block corridor. 5 minutes walk from West Highland Way walk, town centre, shops and the indoor rock and ice climbing centre, The Ice Factor.

My son and I stayed in one of the Microlodge Hobbits for a night during our West Highland Way walk.
The site is very well run and the owner, was very helpful when we checked in to make sure we knew where all the facilities were (at the site and also in Kinlochleven).
Access the toilet and shower block is via an access code that you receive when you check in. I can only assume that this is to stop them being used by WHW walkers who are walking past. This also meant that the block was clean and tidy which was good to see after a long walk.
The microlodges are really nice. We booked a 2 person lodge and what it lacks in space it more than makes up for in the facilities. They have a heater, TV, microwave and fridge along with a couple of raised mattresses running along the side. The lack of space meant that we had to keep out large bags in the hut beside the hostel (this wasn't in any way a problem and just made the lodge more comfortable). We paid £30 for a night so approximately double the cost of camping but I think it offers great value for money. I spoke to a chap who was in a 4 person lodge with his wife and child and was paying £40 so also felt it was very good value.
Kinlochleven has a Co-op that is open from 7am-10pm for provisions and there is a very good chip shop open from Tue-Sat.
I will certainly return here later in the year with a tent when I hope to do some walking in the Mamores.

The site itself is a narrow strip of flat grass between the river and business park. Probably more suited to smaller tents. A coded lock gives access to the drying room, showers and toilets, all clean and in good repair. Outside there is a small, covered food prep and pot wash area with useful picnic benches dotted around. Ample parking. Cost £5 per person/night.
Since the aluminium smelter closed down, Kinlochleven has promoted itself as an outdoor pursuits centre. It is certainly a good base for hill-walking (tip: save 700ft of climbing and park up at Mamore Lodge). The ‘Ice Factor’ centre is 50m away from the site so handy for year round ice climbing. Two stores are close-by and the town has a few pubs although we had trouble tracking down the Atlas real ale despite it being produced locally.

July 2003 Straightforward, but nice campsite with convenient shelter for cooking and packing your rucksack on a rainy morning! Showers have see-through doors, fortunately the gents are separated from the ladies... :-) There is a supermarket a few hundred yards from the campsite, handy if you're packed as light as possible during the day (while walking the West Highland Way) and still like to eat a decent meal in the evening!
