If you are looking for a quiet site, this may not be for you! Situated next to a busy roundabout, with a busy road in front and a busy bypass behind, there is a lot of traffic noise. Also be aware the pub has a marquee in the garden for parties of up to 250 people!

Arrived early morning on Good Friday. We had a good welcome. This is only a small pub site and most visitors have to stay in the car park, but it's a great place to stay if you are visiting relatives, as we were, or going to the River Festival. The staff were really friendly. We were one of 2 motor homes parked on the car park. There were others in caravans on the paddock. It is really easy to use the water hose as it runs the length of the car park and the hookups are 8 in number.
The site is just outside Bedford and just before Clapham. And close by is a river. We were happily surprised by the fact that there is a well-known large supermarket only 5 minutes walk away.
There is a well-kept pub garden right next to the carpark which has plenty of seating and playing apparatus for children. Pub meals are available, but we could not report on these as we did not partake of them. Neither did we have time to sample the beer, so we cannot advise on quality etc.
Only one slight difficulty when it came to emptying the loo.One needs a screwdriver to lift the manhole and it can only be emptied after or before meals are served at the pub as it is situated outside the kitchen window.
However, we had a bit of a chuckle at a gentleman and his wife who arrived at the carpark in an old caravan intending to stay for a couple of days or so. Unfortunately, they had brought 2 little yappy dogs with them who were frightened of the German shepherd dog belonging to the other motor home owner. Having taken more than half an hour to park the caravan, his missus decided that there was no way they were staying and they left hurriedly.
The fees for staying at this site are cheap and the place is great for a stop-off.

We phoned a couple of times to book in but didn't really get a reply. A friend in Bedford got through to confirm some sort of booking but we still didn't know anything about the site. On arrival we were informed the landlord was away but we were expected and were directed to park where ever we liked! In the car park for goodness sake, between two rather dilapidated camper vans occupied by persons who had obviously been in the pub all day. They indicated they wanted to get a van through next morning and the electric hook up would have to be moved etc. One hookup by the way, for about 6 vans it seems.
