We were put on to hentervene by a friend who stayed with them last year. We were not disappointed. The caravan was really lovely, very clean and tidy with everything we needed, tea and coffee was a nice touch.
We couldn`t work out why it was so quiet in main season, but we found out that most of the lodges and caravans are privately owned.
The park was away from any main road and traffic noise. It was a great place for our little lad to wander about and we didn`t have to worry too much. Hentervene is not a big place, and there were several other children there and our little one was kept well entertained on site.
The play area had some lovely wooden play houses with some smaller toys in, which was different. There was a slide and some new swings. There was also an outdoor table tennis table and climbing frame.
The park only has a handful of touring pitches, but they were all full up.
The laundry had new equipment with some impressively quick machines in it. It was nice to have a timer on them. The toilet block was only for the tourers and seemed basic, but it was clean and quite big for a handful of pitches.
Crackington haven beach is not very far away with a car park, two beach cafes and a pub.
The local post office had some friendly owners, and it kept us in basic supplies, although the trip to morrisons in bude was no hardship.( 9 miles.)
The park owners were friendly and helpful and happy to spend time advising us where to go walking or visiting. The park has got a woodland nature walk which is still being developed. Not sure what previous reviewer means about leading to a waste soakaway though. There was a stream and some ponds being built when we visited. Lots of wildlife everywhere!
The park has a mixture of caravans, tourers and lodges and looked well kept and clean. There is nothing there really in terms of facilities, but we did not want a club house or entertainment anyway. There is a small games room with pool table and table football. There is also a TV room, library and information room with some little children's toys and books in, and the owners are happy for people to swap books or take them and finish them at home!
Overall, we had a lovely time. The weather was not that great, but we found plenty to do round about when it rained, and the sea is wet anyway! We will certainly be making a return journey sometime in the future.

We booked a static break and chose this on the basis of the website, and some of the older reviews.
This is a nice quiet site, in a lovely location and a short drive from Crackington Haven. In fact the location is a great base for touring the sights and sites of this part of Cornwall. Crackington is one of the quieter beaches with a great shop, restaurant and bar. The food and service down there was second to none. There is a visiting chippy down the road - which was very nice indeed - a popular choice with the locals.
In terms of shopping for essentials, there is a few post-offices cum supermarkets within about 5 miles - but these were more for emergency supplies. Bude was not too far with Sainsburys and Morrisons, and plenty of other shops to suffice.
The statics were not bad - we chose a really nice centrally heated one as we were not sure about the weather and had our little-un with us.
There are a great number of lodges on the site, and by the looks of it there were more being built. There were quite a few owned statics, and the touring section seemed more biased towards seasonal tourers.
We had a look around the shower and washing facilities, and these were a bit basic and tired in places. We wanted to wash some beach clothes in their laundry but this was closed - although the site owner did offer to do it for us. There was a small play-room with a pay table-football and pool table, also a small library. Most of this area was showing signs of age and a bit neglected (not sure if this was because we were quite early in the season)
There was a small play area, as we came at the start of the season this was in need of a tidy-up and was showing its age (lots of broken toys and bits in there). Although the little-un enjoyed it, and liked the swings.
There was quite a nice dog walking area which we often wandered around.
Overall the site seemed more for statics and lodges, but the location is great and it is small with plenty of hook-ups.
Owner's comment: The laundry was being refurbished with brand new machines, although we did offer to do his washing for him in the house! The shower block, whilst being a converted farm building was spotless and freshly painted inside and out. Showers are superb, hot and powerful (he wouldn`t know that, as he stayed in one of our brand new fully centrally heated caravans)

We stayed here for a week starting August bank holiday. The site was very busy which was to be expected but you didn't seem to notice just how busy it was because there was ample space between tents. The owners were very pleasant and were always willing to help and give advice. The showers and toilets were well kept and clean and were just fabulous. The pressure was like something you would get in a fancy hotel. The site was located in a position where you would need to drive to most places but this did not put us off and we will definitely return in the near future

Found this site when looking for a local site to Trevigue in Crackington Haven where I was going to a wedding, the site is a well run, family friendly site, if you are looking for a quiet site in an excellent location for visiting the surrounding area you really can't go wrong with this one. The site maintenance is excellent, there is a small park for the kids to play as well as a communal tv room, freezer and microwave facilities are free and trusted to people on the site to respect, the showers and toilets are spotless and although small are sufficient for this size site. A small shop is in situ which stocks essentials, as I visited in low season the shop opened mainly on request but again they are only to willing to open when requested. Would be a great site for group bookings who will keep each other entertained or for a quiet get away from it all break. Highly recommended.

August 2004 Very quiet and secluded family campsite where your kids can roam safe in the knowledge you won't loose them. Our kids often met up with others and played in the area. The new owners (2004) are working very hard to improve things and they monitor the site well. Facilities improving, with great touches of washing-up liquid and scourers in the dish washing area etc. Also a baby bath. Appreciated watching TV too with a few fellow campers late at night! Pitches fairly close, but never noisy. Easy access to Bude, and surrounding area. Even Boscastle, pre flood! We will be going back.

August bank holiday week We arrived at the beginning of the Bank Holiday weekend.
This family site is run by the owner, who was always to be found around the site. The site was busy over this weekend but this is expected at such a pleasant site.
Activities for children were provided with a play house, climbing frame, swings and initally a trampolene (which was broken by some older children early in the weekend and had to be removed).
During the evenings games and competitions were provided for the children (including prizes of toys) for no cost.
A television room and separate games room which includes two pool tables was provided, guides for numerous local attractions were provided.
Even though the site was busy over the Bank Holiday weekend, there was no evidence of any queues for the facilities.
There are two pubs within 5 minutes drive, you can walk to the closest in about 20mins but it is down a very steep hill, which takes longer to walk back up!
A very pleasant, peaceful and family safe site.
