Just back after a lovely long weekend camping.
Lovely quiet, secluded and sheltered campsite. Only a few touring pitches but all right next to what looks like a refurbished toilet block, two loos & one shower in each. 20p per 3 minutes for the showers which is a bit annoying scrabbling round trying to find 20p pieces! And yes lights are on a timer of only 5 mins so dark shower if you stay in longer! But hot water & clean. Also a wash room with two large sinks a washer & a dryer as well as tourist info.
The site is mainly statics and very well maintained. We were the only tourer there the whole weekend.
There is a small shop on site with short opening hours but only a few miles from Middleton in Teesdale.
Mickleton itself has no shop but a friendly pub, but it is a 20 min walk up the lane to get there.
There's no child facilities but there is plenty of open grass to play on and next to a river.
The T junction to get from mickleton to the site is a bit steep. Getting in was ok but getting out I did get out and guide hubby when it was clear to go!
Definitely a site to go back to.

We booked this site for one month and stayed for two. This is a lovely, peaceful site, owners were very pleasant and helpful. The facilities were ample for four tourers and exceptionally clean, the area is well looked after by the family. The Blacksmiths Arms provide a nice Sunday Lunch at a reasonable price, and are excellent company. Plenty of shops in Barnard Castle and Middleton-in- Teesdale, and the surrounding area is one of exceptional beauty. We will definitely go back to this site and would recommend it to anyone.

Very friendly site, quiet with a fantastic position next to the river (Lune). Got a last minute booking for bank holiday weekend after they had a cancellation when everywhere else was full. Even on august bank holiday weekend, many of the statics were empty so still felt very quiet.
Site is mainly statics with only 4 touring pitches, but these pitches are in a nice setting backing onto a field where we watched the calves chase rabbits. In front is a area of grass which has access to the river, and is ideal for kids with their fishing nets.
Facilities basic and could do with a bit of a spruce up, but generally clean. The only comment about facilities is the fact lights are on a motion sensor which seems to be set at 5 mins, so if you are having a 10min shower (20p for 5 mins), then the last half of shower is in the dark!
Small shop at reception selling basics, sweets and ice cream.
Make sure you follow directions on website as not sign posted and the other route involves steep tight hairpin that you would very much struggle to get a tourer down. On leaving the site, where the small road joins the main road through village, it is very steep at T junction which is blind due to houses on either side, so a good handbrake and strong clutch required!
Will visit this site again as we had a great weekend here.

Very secluded picturesque location on riverside. Not sign posted at all so you will need to get accurate directions from website.
Friendly welcome and guided personally onto pitch. Security barrier exit and entry very easy to use with key provided for £5 refundable deposit.
All touring pitches, 4 of them, very spacious good level hardstanding, close to toilet block, water tap, grey water disposal and toilet emptying. 1 shower(20p for 5 mins - 40p for good shower and hair wash, but water lovely and hot if stream a bit weak) and 2 cubicles in ladies. Plumbing a bit antiquated but clean and perfectly usable, but adequate as so few tourers. Only 2 vans and 1 campervan all weekend. Would have been nice to have bin a bit nearer as quite a trek to bin area. Take citronella candles as midges ravenous.
All in all would recommend this site to anyone liking peace and quiet.
Only niggle was how emphatic owner was that dogs must be on leads at all times, told when booking and twice on arrival, yet their sheepdogs were not at certain times and had to be passed to take our own dogs off site for exercise, quite daunting when they run snacking at you and your dogs especially as we had a young pup with us.

A lovely quiet site. Mostly static vans with only four touring pitches.
Clean toilets with shower (20p); laundry etc. Keith, Carole and family have a small shop that sells the essentials and fab ice-cream! Fishing rights are included in the pitch fee (£11 per night) and although we didn't do any fishing we did meet people who had had success.
Large field to walk the dogs surrounded on one side by the river.
Off site many local attractions to visit but for those who want a totally relaxing time take a stroll to the Blacksmith for a quiet pint. Outside seating for those with dogs.
For a chill out weekend we will visit again.

Our favourite site in this area by far! The owners, Carol and husband, are really friendly people.
Unfortunately very few touring spaces left due to seasonal pitches so need to check to see if there's a pitch available. The charge per night is very reasonable.
The toilet/shower block exceptionally clean and a useful washing machine available for longer stays.
The views are breathtaking and wonderful to have animals right outside the door. The residents in the static vans are also friendly and as regular visitors, we are always welcomed with a wave or a chat.
If it's peace and quiet you want then this is the place. Some lovely walking in the area and if you have bikes then why not use the cycle way (disused railway line) and cycle to Barnard Castle. Middleton in Teesdale has shops and pubs, everything you need in fact, right down to Calor gas from the hardware shop. Lovely fish and chips too but closes early so don't leave it too late.
No play area as such for children but youngsters at the static vans usually have their own toys and there are grassy areas for them to play on. Keen anglers are catered for too as the river runs alongside the site and there's good fishing to be had. Try to go in first half of the year and you may be lucky enough to see calves being born on this working farm.

I stayed at this site for 3 nights and once you at the site it is very nice, it is in very peaceful settings, on a working farm, with the river running thought the site, which is very nice
It is a little daunting to get the site due to the tight turning after the pub and the farm road, but once you are there it doesn't seem so bad.
The showers and toilets are very basic with 3 toilets and 1 shower in the ladies, could do with a good paint but surroundings make up for this, there are only a limited amount of touring pitches, but with plenty of space for each.
Again daunting to get out at the top of the road with it being on a hill, but we survived.
All in all a good site for peace and quite, and a site that is close to wild life and many walks.
