Caravan very dirty mildew all over windows, floors needed a good scrub caravan in need of doing up. Park was messy bags of rubbish dumped outside peoples caravans. Broken concrete paths and open drains where statics once stood many years ago.
No parking near your caravan, not good for disabled or elderly to pack and unpack.
Waited over 2 hours in restaurant for our main course and pudding.
Beach is lovely once off the park
Real waste of money.
Swimming pool out of order all of our stay. Very noisy on a night shouting etc after 2am.
Site is located a short walk from the village and about a 5 minute car trip to the stunning beach that is Druridge bay. And that's about as good as it gets here.
The site is mostly static caravans and attracts a large number of people during the busy periods. I've now learned that it is one of the sites used by the cheap sun newspaper holidays scheme which probably explains a lot. We were there in low season ie two weeks from Easter, hoping for a quiet seaside break near Newcastle.
The management is very sales aggressive. We had at least one knock on the door and a phone call regarding sales of statics. The prices in the cafe were also OTT. Reception staff knew little about the surrounding area either.
Caravan was clean and ok. We have dogs so we could only have a bronze van. Cannot complain about the van.
But the site had a run down feel to it in general and the groups of noisy loiterers near the cafe and reception area added nothing to the idea of a peaceful holiday.
