A lovely site good shopping facilities spoilt by to many electric hook ups taken by empty caravans. You must have your own toilet facilities lovely walks for the dog lovers.
Coleford has plenty of shops and takeaways .
This is on the woodlands site and we shall be back again next year

Having been to Bracelands campsite in our trailer tent earlier on in the year, we were keen to try out a campsite that required full use of all the facilities our new caravan could provide.

Woodlands is a caravan and motor caravan only site due to the wild boar that live in the forest. It has electric hook up pitches and non hook up pitches. The pitches are located individually on good firm ground off either side of the small road that winds through the site. The pitches are dotted about throughout the site but it is a first come first served basis even if you have booked which means if you are camping with friends in a different van, you may not get that close to each other. Also some pitches are directly opposite each other which doesnt offer much privacy.

The biggest problem we found with pitch selection is that there are a lot of pitches which are obviously rented for the whole season so it left little choice for us when we arrived. I felt very guilty emptying the chemical loo in the disposal point when it was right next door to a family in their caravan eating tea! When they arrived that was the only pitch left though.

The pitches are not all that big, with just enough room to squeeze a caravan and awning on and then a small space to park the car and sit outside.

Generally though the pitches are lovely, under the shade of the enormous trees. Some drawbacks to this are that the van got covered in tree sap and falling debris and if you are a sun worshipper, the trees do an excellent job of shading you from all the sun, but this does mean that your van stays very cool.

There are a good amount of chemical disposal points, refuse bins and water points dotted around.

Lovely site, will go back again.

Nearby there are loads of walks. We particularly enjoyed the Sculpture Trail at Speech House. We used a local Chinese takeaway one night which was delicious. Not much to look at outside  but the food was great. As you drive out of the road where the campsites are and go straight across the crossroads it is on the right hand side opposite the pub.

One place I would never visit again is Littledean Jail. It could be a place of great interest, but the owner has rather unsympathetically put items of great historical value, (e.G. Holocaust artifacts) alongside his own personal opinions on everything and life size figures of Lara Croft and Spacemen!

We would love to go to Puzzle Wood, it sounds an amazing place for adults and children alike but sadly it doesn't take dogs.

Uniquely situated site - all placements in the middle of the forest! Lots of distance to next placement. Limited facilities (you need your own loo, there is only water and a cleaning facility for your porta potty).

Very beautiful site, quiet. Will definitely go there again.
