Portballintrae is a wonderful destination. Portballintrae caravan park isn’t.
Issues to be addressed : reception (intermittent). Toilet / shower standards. Suitability of site for touring caravans / motor homes.
Poor value considering indifference of staff and all other circumstances.

Portballintrae is a beautiful place to visit and this site seems to be great for static caravans but not for touring caravans.
The touring pitches are in a packed into a lane, all in a straight line, looking into a fence and quite close together when everyone puts up an awning. Showers cost £1 and are usually cold.
There is also a cost for using the wifi, don't bother to pay this, it is poor. The office is manned for a very short time each day, so it's hard to book and also inconvenient if you need to buy laundry tokens etc.
We were also disappointed to see that a family with a seasonal pitch were not challenged by management about their loud music and unrestrained dog.
There are a couple of beaches, a golf course, two nice restaurants, a harbour and boat club and a small shop in the village and it is only a short drive to other nearby seaside towns. Lovely area but this site is not great. We will not be back.

When we were trying to book this site, we had to call several times before we could get a hold of anyone. The site didn't have a website or any information online, so we only booked it because a friend recommended it.
We arrived on a Saturday morning and we were the only campers there (apart from the people in the static caravans). The site had very limited touring pitches, only about six, but each pitch had an electric hook-up between two.
The park seemed well kept and the children's play park was fantastic. The sanitary block seemed clean, though we couldn't get in because you needed a special code and when we arrived the owners weren't about anywhere, and we were unable to confirm our check-in.
The site was pretty flat, good for cycling and walking and easy enough to get around. Portballintrae itself is the most beautiful seaside town, ideal for cycling and has such stunning beaches and sunny weather. While you're there, a visit to the Bayview Hotel is a must.
Overall, a very good site.
