Amazing, extensive site. Pool complex, gym, restaurant and huge children's play park. Main sanitary block was luxurious, with toilet paper and luxury fittings, and themed children's facilities. No toilet seats but you could get protectors from reception. Great laundry and washing up facilities and small motorhome service point.
Hedged pitches with electric hook up and service taps. Reasonable restaurant (basic dishes) shop, and bar, with spa facilities as well. Access to a pretty beach with the famous fishing cabins and easy cycle ride into the little town of Pornic. Don't miss the shop and créperie of La Fraiserie! I suspect this site would be a) very expensive (but understandable given the facilities) b) very crowded in the high season, but it was perfect just out of season. Staff were incredibly helpful, and it was clear that although this is a large site it is still family owned and run. Good value on the ACSI rate (even at 19 euro).

Very professionally run site. One large toilet/shower/laundry block to serve whole site. This block was kept very clean. On site shop/bakery was excellent. Pool complex was impressive - one indoor pool maintained at 30 degrees, one big outdoor pool and separate catch pool for the two water slides. Not surprisingly very busy in August. Pitches are generous and each has electricity but only French two pin socket so you need an adaptor to run a british type lead (not available on site - go to the caravan store 7km away near dechetterie for la Plaine sur Mer just off D213). There was one very significant drawback to this otherwise excellent site - the noise! One night the "entertainment" in the bar went on till 2am, every other night until midnight. If Edith Piaf impersonators and europop at full volume are your thing you'll feel right at home here! I had thought that this was a site aimed at families but it's more suited to teenagers who aren't bothered by noise at night. Despite the excellent facilities we won't return here until our children are teenage.

Fantastic. One of the best campsites we have stayed at. After the usual problems of which pitch to take. They want to give you pitch A and you want pitch B. Eventualy sorted out much to our satisfaction, we were being very picky as it was a weeks stay. Pitch was huge, with electic hook-up and water stand-pipe all within easy reach. Pitches set in lovely wooded area,I say this because the weather was so hot that the shade was very welcome. Only one problem with great weather and no rain, the ground was like concrete. Those extra strong pegs which never get used did come in handy afterall. Trust a Brit to find something wrong with perfect weather.
It lookes like the toilet and wash blocks are new. Very good indeed with plenty of facilities. Plenty of electic points and mirrors which is a nice change. The site has an outdoor and an indoor pool, the indoor was very handy as the water was quite warm, so the children enjoyed it better, and saved us worrying about them burning in the sun so much. A very good bar and restaurant which is seperated by a gate system so young ones can,t wander off. It also helps police the no glass by the pool rule. There were a few discos which were attended by campers and the local youth alike, but never any bother, and I think the bar area must be sound proofed because there was no problem with noise. Only one catch £3 for a large beer.
The camp site was very busy at the weekend, and I discovered I liked french rap music. The noise was gone by 11 o'clock and it was great watching teenagers having a great time and not causing any trouble. Also on site there is a fairly good childrens play-park.
There is a huge supermarket within 1.5k. Also petrol station which is unmaned. This caused a problem as the machines would not accept any of our credit cards, (nationwide or R.B.S visa )? The usual fast food eatery was there.
Pornic was a perfect place to spend some time in. Full of shops, restaurants and a lively market. Very good parking at the station which is right in town, and it's free! Went to the beach at St-Brevin-l'Ocean/les Pins, two nice towns and a huge prom along the beach, but the sea was about a mile away. Lots of sand no paddling makes unhappy children.
The day out at Planete Sauvage was just great. Not your usual safari park. Take the popcorn to feed the animals you will not be disapointed. In my opinion something to keep the whole family amused. Lots of things to see and do and a very nice campsite to come back to. A place to return to.

The previous reviews are quite old and do not reflect the site now, The toilet blocks are new the most spacious and well equipped we have come across with individual basins in each cubicle, The pitches were large and plenty of room for our twin axle units, The owners were friendly and accommodating, the pool and kids club were good only noise was that of children playing, we heard more from campsite next door, Our only criticism would be the on site restaurant was very slow but takeaway section was fine, We would go again and recommend it for family's 9/10

We recently visited this site in the top peak season, As far as I could see it was completly full. We were there for two weeks.
Due to wall to wall sunshine the pitches were somewhat brown and rock hard. (Stock up on the steel Nail type pegs else you will be breaking the plastic ones), However they seemed to be clean and free of rubbish.
There is a brand new sanitary block which is state of the art and is excellent. Very roomy showers with a wash basin in the cubicle. A good roomy dish washing area is included. Water was hot except in the vey peak times where there was a bit of a queue for showers. Loos were kept spotless.
The pool area is very good and the indoor (well) heated pool available up to 10 o'clock at night. My 10 year old got her money's worth from the pool. There are lovely flumes for the Kids (and dad's) and several enjoyable hot days were spent around the pool.
Evening entertainment was mixed. Kareoke night was popular with the french (super trooper belted out by a french 9 year old is an aquired taste!) But they had an excellenat concert on one evening by a very enthusiastic french celtic rock band (madness meets the Corrs) that was extremely good.
Local beaches were not easily found but are lovely once you did. Flat rocks at low tides but lovely clear sea and not too crowded.
Some pleasant coast walks as well.
Pornic is typical pretty lively port. Good for a mooch with FREE parking. (respect!)
Local food good and just as good (but cheaper) off the main drag.
We had one night of teenagers camping talking up to 2.00 am but a site security guard told them to keep quiet and it only happned one night.
Noise levels were pretty good. We were 200 yds from the main entertainment blocks and did not disturb us.
All in all very pleased with the choice, Thinking about going again
