Just got back from a 3 night stay here. When we eventually found the place, we thought, nice, a small campsite with not many people. Well that was the only good thing. The park is down a little lane off the main road. There is no reception, it is about 3 miles away at Ocean Heights park. You can use the facilities there, but you have to take your car as there is very limited public transport. So, we checked in and drove the three miles back. There is no information telling you where to check in and nothing from them when we booked. We set up our tent and got ready for our weekend break. We went for a shower. Hmmmm the cubicle is tiny. There is a shelf behind the door so the door won't open fully and there is a fold down seat that just gets in the way. The shower was a trickle of tepid water that ran down the wall. We did manage to shower on the Sunday morning as a repair man was in there on Saturday evening, but the showers were back to a trickle on Monday after we had packed up. The floor mats in the cubicle are very painful to stand on too. Also the hand dryers do not work unless you have your hand right up against it and don't move. There was no toilet paper in the mens even though park staff were visiting quite regular. We won't be using Vale holiday parks again, quite expensive and not what it says on the tin. The area is beautiful and there are many other sites to choose from

Excellent camp site. We stayed here in the first week of the school summer holidays expecting it to be full of kids and to our surprise it really wasn't. It seems as though some of the other larger parks in area attract the families making this one very quiet even in peak season!
The shower block was very clean and well maintained and there is a children's play area and small outdoor swimming pool on site, although I would only imagine kids to be using the pool.
The sister site, Ocean Heights, has a club bar you would expect at most holiday parks and also an indoor swimming pool that guests at Penlon have full access to. The only downside is that there is about 2-3 mile gap between the 2 sites that isn't really walking friendly.
I was very impressed with this site and would certainly return. I would have rated it 10 stars however as there is no on site shop and the nearest shop is about 1 mile away this can be kind of annoying otherwise if you are looking for a relaxing quiet camp site that is only a 5 minute drive from New Quay, then this is the place for you!
