Previous reviews have accurately described this site. Views are great, though that means exposed. Facilities are basic but adequate and there are a lot of caravans in storage around the field and you can hear the nearby road, but it wasn't that bad. RAF were far noisier.
What isn't clear is the cost. We were charged £28 for one night. 2 adults, 2 kids and 4 dogs with electric hook-up. This was the second most expensive site of our holiday and the most expensive was an extra £4 for a fully serviced 'deluxe' pitch in Snowdonia.
I do not expect to pay this much for a CS so would not consider returning.

We visited the site in early June for eight nights commencing on a Friday. Had booked an electric hook-up which they had forgotten about. Was eventually told to pitch on the side of the roadway down to the 2nd storage area and utilise the point from the caravan neighbouring our pitch (as they aren't due back yet) - Wrong! The couple came back early monday morning and had lost all their food in the fridge. We had viewed the site the previous year and some improvements had been made to the small convenience block. Our only gripe was that if a bit of initiative would have been used they could have made an ourdoor washing up area so as not to tie up one half of the toilet/shower facility. Once pitched we weren't bothered by the owners but felt they were on hand should we have required anything.
We were pitched fairly near to the road over looking the view down Lorton Vale (spectacular) and never really suffered from excessive road noise (some people must be really light sleepers).
The food at the hotel over the road is excellent and it does seem posh but the staff are all lovely, as are the owners. It is fairly well used by the local farmers etc.
Walk into Cockermouth itself took us about 20 minutes and can highly recommend doing this if you are planning on doing the brewery tour.
We will definitely be using this site again next year but will go all gas, as the best pitch when we went was taken by a caravan that was only visited for the saturday night(!)

Agree with other reviewers abut the caravan site. Appeared to be partly neglected, and mainly used as a storage facility. Owner when we booked in was friendly & helpful. We found the site to be very exposed, the wind got stronger as the weekend progressed. The noise from the A66 went on all night (Friday). The toilets were clean, but could do with a little TLC. Pubs in Cockermouth were good, excellent meals etc. Hotel just over the road down a long driveway did meals, we didn't go in as we were not properly dressed, and the place seemed 'posh'
Don't think we'll return.

We chose this site because it is listed as 'adult only' but arrived to find this was not the case.
Lots of older empty caravans on site, which seems to double as caravan storage area, giving it a sadly down-market atmosphere.
Toilets and showers adequate but lack tlc and smelled of cheap disinfectant.
Close to main road but access is via country lanes and just a bit too far to walk into Cockermouth.

Very clean and tidy little campsite with wonderful views over the surrounding fells. Most pitches were flat and spacious. Very friendly owners and facilities were immaculate. The no noise curfew is from 10pm to 8pm. However the site was let down slightly by the arrangement of the facilities. There were only two rooms. One contained toilet and shower, the other contained toilet, shower and the washing up sink. This meant if both rooms were occupied by people showering or washing up, there was quite a long wait for the loo. An outside washing up sink and a separate loo cubicle would bring this site fully up to standard. If you had your own facilities or went at a quiet time this site would be perfect as a peaceful base.
