The site is on a working Marina, with all that includes. This means boats strewn around in various states of repair, and steel containers presumably used as workshops or stores. This is definitely not a site for children.
There is a cafe on site, although we didn't use it so cannot comment.
The toilets were probably the worst I have ever seen and I have worked on building sites for over 30 years, although I concede they were cleaned while we were there. They are however beyond help from bleach or even paint.
Location is close to East Midlands Parkway so there are good transport links to Nottingham & even London.
Other than the Marina there is not much else in the immediate area.

There is little to add to the previous review - this is still a working marina rather than a caravan site, the toilets probably haven't been cleaned since the previous reviewers visit and there are still no showers/washup etc but the location is good - you are 5 minutes from junction 24 of the M1 and it is a 15 minute easy stroll to East Midlands Parkway station. We had three cracking days visiting Derby and Nottingham which are a further 12 minute train ride away. Plenty of area to walk the dogs and a cracking little cafe on site. Owners couldn't be more friendly and we will be back.

My wife and I stayed at the site for a week while attending the Dalai Lama’s talks at the Nottingham Arena.
When visiting the site you will need to bear in mind it is a working mariner with all that in tales, you will pass boats in various states of repair and workshops to get to the camping site. So for this and the close proximity to the water, I can understand the entry above stating it is an adult only site
The site facilities consist of;
• Five grass pitches for caravans/motor homes with electrical hook-up overlooking the river & marina, plus a large island, accessable by a humped back bridge for tents / small trailers.
• Water stand pipes along the marina front and a chemical toilet disposal point a short distance from the pitches.
• A café / shop run by very helpful friendly couple (they had organised a BBQ for the air ambulance while we were there) who live on one of the narrow boats, and a chandlers / come site office which also supplies caravan / camping spares and replacement gas bottles.
There is a portable toilet block on site, (one ladies’ toilet, one men’s side be side) but it is in a poor state of repair and is awaiting replacement.
There is no hot water, shower or pot wash facilities on site, so the site is more suited for self sanction use or overnight stop over’s on long journeys, being only a short distance from junction 24 of the M1.
We would have no problems returning to the site especially as we were informed the site has plans for upgrading its facilities and a new Nottingham to East Midlands Airport- rail link station is due to open shortly near to the site (the railway already runs close to the site, but you are not aware of it because of shielding) enabling easy access to Nottingham city centre.
